I'm sure it's been asked before, but what's the current thinking on the best place to get your motor washed? As I live in an apartment, the options for washing my car at home are rather limited. Is there a better alternative to waiting in the queue for an hour at the gas station then having someone wash it bottom to the top (with a rag they they clean by scrubbing it on the floor) after jet washing it from one inch away? My car is suffering from a few marks thanks to this. Is there anywhere that's not crowded and does a proper job? Also is there any jet wash place where you can wash your own car? Somewhere at the Marina end of town would be good.

go to the car wash at the enoc by hessa/al khail junction. pay for the super wash. i always stand and watch and am not precious about the jeep yet have never seen dirty rags used. that is the prevail of the mall waterless carwash cowboys.

then drive home and clay/cut/polish by hand or using a rotary. did this on the jeep t'other week before doing the clio. took 2 of us less than an hour. ace sell meguiars gear and yellow hat do autoglym.

if you actually like/prefer to do it yourself then that is the best way whilst avoiding the question of how to jet wash. just ask that they don't use any polish or spray on wax.

I saw a Mclaren SLR being washed by mall monkeys at Mecato a few weeks ago!!!

I used to use the petrol station just near Life Pharmacy on Al Wasl, Jumeirah 1 end, they seemed to do a pretty good job and didn't leave any marks that I noticed.

Luckily I now have a guy on the compound that does both cars for AED160 a month by hand on our drive and he does a good job. Not sure I will let him at my new one though.

Wheel2Wheel on Umm Sequim have always been my goto guys for a decent wash for around 35Dhs.

Was forced to have a deep clean last week on the Wrangler after getting pulled over by the police for a dirty car. To be fair, it was covered entirely in mud from the roof downwards, across the doors/windows etc. Basically, all I could see out was through the smeary windscreen from my pathetic wipers.

They did a full underneath jobby and I think they were a bit trigger happy with the pressure washer as the Jeep struggled to start straight after, and now is the in the shop for a week getting sorted out.

Never had a problem before, and should have really stood with them to avoid this, but I think they took the challenge of 2 years of caked on mud on the understand a little too far.
