Hi All,
Still on the hunt for a GT3 Gen 2 997 if anyone knows anyone who wants to sell.

The one currently on Dubizzle has a patchy history and is from Kuwait. Not ideal.

Would like any low kms Gen 2. Any colour. If you know anyone please ask them to contact me, cheers. 0508763027

Thanks lads.

There are two that are on dubizzle right now. I'm assuming that the white one is the one that's sketchy?

Hey mate,
Cheers, yes, neither are up to scratch really, for what I want.

The Red one is low kms, however a mate of mine was going to buy it 8 months ago or so. Its got a Akrapovic exhaust, which is cool, however its also had over revs in the range that neither Al Naboodah nor ARM will cover. Thats my main concern really. (Plus. When I went into look at it at Exotic cars the chap said Hi and then chatted on the phone for like 10 mins and kept me waiting. How bloody rude, sorry, but I am not buying it out of principal. Bloody useless pointy shoed salesmen again)

The White one's history is very sketchy. I went and looked at it and it needs 2 new rear tyres, rims are scuffed and for some reason like 5 buttons are missing from the centre consul/screen. Also, the front bumper has been replaced. Thats just visual. Was an Abu Dhabi car originally, 1st service in 2010 and then nothing as it went to Kuwait. I checked with Kuwait Porsche and nothing, they have never seen the car. So in short, its either not been serviced or serviced at some back street shop in Kuwait. Whilst the chap at the dealer said he would do the tyres, consul and rims I dont even think its worth a check, and besides, its got 55k on the clock. You could easily be looking at New Brake Pads around 55k not to mention a new clutch at the very least. Its got steel discs so thats no some much of a worry. You can blatently see that the car can been rogered senseless for the past 4 years and not well cared for. These cars do like a rogering, dont get me wrong, but you gotta take care of them or you could easily end up with a whacking great bill you know.

Will wait for a nice one to come up. In the meantime, if you lads come across one privately then do let me know please.

Cheers

Hi Luke
I went to look at the red one that EC have. Its not in their main showroom.
From a quickish look, it seems well cared for - paint / wheels / inside / engine bay etc.
Smells of a smoker owner, needs a service (last one 18 months ago at ARM, with tyres too)
Exhaust is LOUD

No warranty, which as I understand it, once the warranty chain is 'broken' Porsche won't restart the warranty again.
I asked EC why the owner (multi car owner) didn't renew the warranty - they just looked blank. No mention of the engine being buzzed either, but did give me the VIN to check it out.

Don't know if I can add much more. Do you think 300k is a fair price considering age / mileage / service history / no warranty?
Cheers Sean

I hear that the car has been up for sale for sometime on and off over the pat 8 month or so, which explains the service back then..

Is it worth the money? I would say with the warranty it's still reasonable money

However, is it worth that money without a warranty? I would say no. I would say if you like it them whack it down to ARN and get the over revs checked/overall check . Of it comes out ok and they cover it then rock n roll. Nowhere the chap I spoke to who wanted to buy it last year said he had it checked and it was over revved a few times. (Personally I don't think that the over revs is. Major issue, specially if it was low band and was a long time ago) still, I want a Car with a warranty, so it's a no go for me . Hope it checks out ok if you decide to go ahead . If you do make an offer I would make it 290k

Re the warranty, I am pretty sure Porsche will cover a standard car after the chain is Broken...as long as it passes the check. However, the car isn't standard...so ARN is the only option really. I would take a photo of the vin and check with ARN to see if they have seen/tested the car .

Yep, exactly that. It has to pass the 110-ish point check and have any non-Porsche oem items replaced including silly stuff like the battery. As said, there are certain things that will totally exclude it like over-revs in a certain range and any non-porsche centre performed accident damage repairs

One of the chaps at A2B Garage knows of 1 x GT3 Gen 1 997 in Blue for sale and a 996 GT3 too. So, if you want a 996 or Gen 1 997 then he is your man.

Sorry, forgot to mention I bought one a few months ago.

Red 2010 GT3 with 12,000kms. No Overrevs and nice condition.

Been loving it. Highly recommend getting one.

Completely different car to the Carrera S. By a million miles. Which I was a little surprised about.
