Looking for some help here. I need to hire a driver to take my daughter (accompanied by nanny) to and from school. The bus isn't an option as she's too young. I don't want to have to sponsor someone and all of the hassle that goes with it. Anyone know of any options. Ideally I'd like to pay someone (the same person each time) to take her to and from school. Taxis aren't an option as they often drive like nutters and a different driver each day won't install a child seat properly.

I've heard rumours about hotel drivers doing this sort of thing but can't get any more info.

Any advice welcome.

does your nanny not drive?

the guys who run the private hire lexii [that's an alan partridge lexus's] would do it. just brief the nanny to report any crap driving directly to you.

Do you mean Careem, Shirt?

I have started using them since I moved to JVT as RTA taxi's can be hit and miss at times.

Really happy with the service so far, website is good, they text when car is on its way and when it arrives, direct billing to credit card so Nanny wouldn't need cash.

I get some sort of credit if you use the link below smile sure you could arrange a recurring service.

As an average how much extra is the careem service over a normal cab?

Im JVC, dont have major issues getting a cab but can have to wait 30mins at times, also if ive got home with no cash and need to get a cab its a ballache stopping for cash en route or having to go somewhere to get cash before getting out!

this is why i can;t move to the suburbs. if i wait 3 mins for a cab i moan about it.

i haven't used careem. i mean the guys you see outside the airport etc. driving a lexus but it is a normal taxi, not a hotel car. somethimes they beep you in the marina or outside a mall. always clean, know where they're going etc. but about twice the price of an rta taxi.

you can get an rta driver to come every day if you ask them directly rather than go through the call centre, they will be glad of a regular fare. just ask one that doesn't use the pedals like a switch.

Only bad waiting times are Thursday night or Fridays before and during brunch times, basically the times want to go out! Rarely have to wait any other time, but as summer approaches it would be nice to have the opportunity to get something guaranteed and not have to wait a long time for it in the heat.

Probably only something id use once every 2/3 weeks but still handy to have.

Will sign up, using the code to help out, im assuming they will take a debit card as opposed to credit? I dont have a credit card in the UAE.

Does your debit card work for online purchases? (it won't if it's stty HSBC)

JVT to both Al Qasr and Yacht Club was 75 dhs each.

Also used them to get to airport on 20th December, they had an offer on for half price so that was 75 as well.

We also use taxis but they above were for things we had to be there for a certain time so I didn't trust the RTA. Not sure whether those new Hala taxis have made pre booking with RTA any less of a lottery.

If they are more then 5 mins late for an airport run you get it for free.

Im not HSBC and had very mixed results with online stuff, it has both worked and not worked! ENBD debit card so I cant say for definate, but credit card option is out and dont really want to sign up a UK card and be charged a % fee for using abroad everytime!

But as mentioned roughly double the price of a RTA cab, normally head out with a few friends for brunches etc so not a bad idea if split the cost wont really add up to much more.

Cant say ive tried pre booking a cab in the last 9 months for a specific time, after the first few times I tried doing it which were a total clusterf*ck I gave up.

Called one last xmas for a night out, mother and ex girlfriend both here, rang RTA can I have a cab for 7.45pm, yes no problem this was at 6.45pm, 15 mins later cab arrives, neither women are ready I forced them down into the cab after another 10mins of arguin, didnt hear the end of it all night lol

Exactly, there was 3 of us on the Al Qasr and Yacht club trips so 25 each to get there in a Lexus and Prado that was clean, not smelly and arrived 15 mins early (and happy to wait until the booked time) is fine by me.

Airport run was also great, cost me 92 dhs to get back from the airport in an RTA cab once you have factored in the 25dhs airport tax so it was actually cheaper, again in a nice Lexus.

Thanks guys,

Will look into the options! Booking a regular cab sounds like a good option.

Mate of mins has recently open a chauffeur company. I'll ask him. I sometimes use him for the day, and he charges me 200 per day.
