I'll be doing the full 48hr experience shooting for www.crankandpiston.com
I will be there again with Dubai's SVDP Racing and their mighty BMW 120d (looks like it has been on steroids!). This will be my 4th Dubai 24hr to go with Silverstone and Barcelona. Tickets are not needed as it is free to enter and don't forget there are no restrictions on entering the pits area (you should be able to walk into the garages as well) and there is an underpass from the pits area to the main grandstand.
Do feel free to drop in and say hello. Oh if you see somebody standing behind a driver being interviewed for the tv it will be Steve aka Yorky (morning Steve!).

I will be there to capture the moment that Ian, in his capacity of Team manager (BS) is given the job of sweeping the pit box.
I am looking forward to it.

I happen to be in Dubai over the weekend, I assume the event is basically access all areas of the infield?
Silly question is there an on circuit PA and/or FM commentary in english, quite fancy finding a corner and watching the sunset with the field shooting by.
There is no limitations on access. You can drive your car around the perimeter of the circuit and there will be commentary in English over the PA and radio (Radio LeMans).Silly question is there an on circuit PA and/or FM commentary in english, quite fancy finding a corner and watching the sunset with the field shooting by.
I'll be there. Will do the grid walk before the start then hot foot down to Turn 1 to catch the field barreling through. Will likely stay through to sunset then no doubt pop back in the early hours to follow the action.
Radiolemans.com has commentary, and there's usually a video feed on the Dubai 24hrs site.

T1 is awesome to watch the early laps from.Radiolemans.com has commentary, and there's usually a video feed on the Dubai 24hrs site.
Also, a bit further back towards the pits there is a small cut out of the safety fencing right on the braking point for T1. it's fabulous to have them switch from flatout to max braking at exactly that point. You really get to 'feel' the serious energy going on.
lap 57 were running 1st in A2 by a large margin but were unfortunate to be involved in 3 accidents involving lengthy repairs.
the svdp bmw was leading its class by 7 laps when disaster struck around 5am. the car had been running sweet and strong with a best lap in the 2:21s against a class bracket 2:22. we believe oil starvation caused engine seizure of such violence that the conrod holed the block.
2.5hrs to change the engine meant all the positives were rendered moot. shame as the car was quick in all driver's hands.
huge consolations to the moutrans who were running 1st in A3T until their gearbox imploded in the early hours.
big thanks to steve for covering the event and we look forward to reading your article. give us a bell when you're next in the sandpit
