Barbecues on the Beach

Are you allowed to have barbecues on public beaches around the UAE? I know there are BBQ pits at Al Mamzar (Dubai and Sharjah) but wondering about some of the more remote beaches in Kalba and Khor Fakkhen away from the public.

These two obviously fall within the borders of Sharjah and I've read conflicting reports about BBQs, mainly banning them from the beach at Mamzar but making sweeping generalisations about other beaches in the Emirate.

Anyone have any recent experience of BBQing on the beach?

We have BBQ'd on the beaches up and around Dibba/Khor Forkan (SP), never had an issue with it.

Went for a Christmas BBQ today (first Christmas without going back to the UK so fancied something different) and set up no problem on the open beach just outside Khorfakkan.
