Inspired by Nurburgsingh's thread I thought I'd post this.

I have 2013 Entertainer Dubai book.... We've used a number of vouchers within it but there are still over 1,000 left.
If anyone has any specific plans between now and the end of the year and would like a voucher then just shout.

Remember that they're not valid Xmas Eve, Xmas day or NYE

I also have a shed load, so same applies here.

I'm sure one of us will have something that someone wants.

Hahaha

Next time you can come to the office (in the Summer is better) and see what is walking round.
You might not want to leave....

We've got tons left and the wife reckons, and it sounds about right, we've saved over AED 2k on meals over the year.

Can't moan about that really.

We like our nice meals out so getting one of the mains for free (especially when they're costing AED 250 plus) is pretty cool.

I'm a touch sad about keeping records of what I save (I write the saving on the stub in the book)
I totalled up 2013 savings the other day... 6400aed

Not bad for the purchase of a 300aed book!

I've bought the app for 2014 though, both the Dubai one and the Fine dining so let's see how much I save this time!

Thats a blooming impressive saving!!!

How does the app work as opposed to the book? Should really have a look online, ive ignored the e-mails they have constantly been sending for the last month or so about 2014 frown

It's excellent to be honest.
You set up your entertainer account (if you've previously registered a book then you've already got an account)
Download the app and then purchase whatever books you want through it, you'll set up a pin as part of this process.

within 10 minutes or so the app registers your purchase.

Go to the location you want to use a voucher, open the app and navigate to the company concerned.. click "use voucher" it will ask you for your pin code, you input yours, the retailer then inputs theirs and the voucher shows as "used" within the app.

From the app you can call up a GPS map of your location and it has all the voucher locations shown on it, click on one and it takes you straight to the voucher.
You can also search by merchant name or cuisine type at the moment (there's a new version of the app coming in January with much better searching capability)

For me, what makes the app so good is that you can have the same "voucher book" loaded onto 3 different devices, ie:
your phone, wife's phone, guest's phone - as long as they all know the pin number you can use the vouchers on any of the devices and your entertainer account will be updated.

It's really very clever and so much neater than lugging books around all the time - the only downside is that you can't swap / give away vouchers any more.

Does sound much better and easier to use, plus as you say if your not carrying the book which lets face it I dont think many of us would and we pop in somewhere for lunch/dinner then on the way home remember 'oh bks' got the voucher for that at home!!

I must have gave 15 ish or so vouchers away this year to people I know so yeah thats a downside but constantly having the availability of the vouchers on you at all times is a winner for me. App it is!

Anyone know if you can use multiple vouchers at one time. Say four people go out for dinner, can you use two vouchers?

Yep, we do that regularly, the most you're supposed to be able to use is 3 vouchers for 6 people but many places will split a large table into multiple bills and allow you to use more.

Forgot to buy the app with the 10% discount and got an e-mail yesterday saying download it for free in Jan and get several vouchers FOC for the month, ironically 2 of which I wanted to use anyways.

Got to agree the app is a major step forward, allow the distance feature on it and it brings up all establishments that are near to you by the metre, walk into a mall open app and it gives you everything around you with the offers, perfect system! Well recommended.

Will purchase the full app after the end of this month smile

For me the jury is still out.... whilst the app looked awesome at first glance I had huge issues getting it to work when I tried to use a voucher in Marco Pierre White's place in the Conrad at the weekend.

The app couldn't search for venues at all and the GPS map view couldn't get a lock on my location and so wouldn't display anything. As soon as I popped outside though it loaded perfectly so I wonder if the building construction or lack of sightline to satellites caused the issue.

I have had an e-mail conversation with the developers this week regarding future improvements and I think it will get better, just need to cope with being a bit of a beta tester initially!!

Not a bad offer really, just get a cheap rental and the book!
