Can you suggest a couple of fabulous brunch places to take my folks in Jan please?
Maybe somewhere with great views and somewhere downtown?

Thanks smile

For good food, Traiteur at the Park Hyatt is hard to beat.

Make sure you book a table outside.

This ^^

Or Mina A'Salam/A Qasar at Medinat for that authetic (ahem) souq/abra experience.

First brunch I ever did, was very good, although that was 7 years ago.

Will the parents be put off by this kind of behviour?

If so, need to choose location carefully!

Two of my friends are in that clip! Not the drunk ones, I hasten to add.

I can second Traiteur - great location and fantastic food (if a little pricey).

Would it be racist of me to suggest they are brits..totally disgusting behavior..and it will be the same people complaining about how bad UAE nationals are at everything..

Racist no, stereotyping, yes. Positive they are Brits and are doing very well to live up to the sterotype.

nb I am a Brit and like a brunch but agree it is pretty disgusting behaviour.

Will leave the Emirati side of things alone wink

My favourite is Toro Toro (Grosvenor in the Marina), doesn't have the spectacular views or downtown location you are after but the food is bloody superb and if you want an amazing view the Observatory in the Marriott Marina is a 3 minute cab ride away.

Decor is really weird, half of it looks like it should be in the film Tron.

Smokers would have to go all the way down and out the front of the hotel for a cig, a real ballache!

They have some very interesting cocktails, iirc I had one with blue cheese in it that was served in a red pepper!

A few points.

Trateur isn't a bad brunch but it's nowhere near the best for the money IMHO, the food stations are crammed in too close together and the actual range of food is pretty small albeit tasty.

Far and away the bset of all the brunches I've been to, and the one I take all of my visitors to is the Westin brunch... the sheer variety of food to sample cannot be beaten and it's one of the few locations where you actually leave feeling like you've had value for money.

If you're taking them to the skyview bar at the Burj then remember it's a 280aed min spend per head and you must have a booking to be allowed onto the island, men also need a jacket.... if you're doing either afternoon or high tea then you might get away without the minimum spend (I didn't initially but now I do, not sure if that's a policy change or by virtue of being a regular!!) but you will need to get them to book a table for you up there as well.
I did manage once to get away with booking it whilst eating afternoon tea, but last weekend we were able to go up to show my guests the bar but were not able to have a drink in the same situation.

can't beat atmosphere for the experience imo. 100dhs min spend, book for just before sunset and enjoy the view.

i am not au fait with sensible well mannered brunches. zuma is on the to do list at some point though.

Completely agree and the Westin wins on that one again... in fact I'm off there tomorrow as our works Christmas bash is a Westin brunch this year!
