Unfortunately a friend of mine was made redundant today due to the company he works for moving their branch office away from the gulf. Just seeing if anyone has a role going for an experienced IT & project manager (also has a background in service management). I know he's going to be competing with an army of people from the sub-continent in this field, but he's a really good guy with a family here. Can forward on more details if there's anything going.
In the interests of give and take, if anyone knows of an experienced Estates Manager (focused on large scale commercial lease management) who is looking for a role covering Africa please let me know.

We can usually do with more Quantity Surveyors or (Construction based)Project Managers.
@TobyLaRohne - would you be open to discussing this? I'm a construction commercial manager here in the UK trying to get my foot into the Dubai market. As a general estimate, I'd say I carry out about 70-80% of the role of a QS in my day job....do you think there would be something suitable for me?Thanks

ok i'll play.
i've been a development / design engineer through much of my career, lately being responsible for all [liquid] fuel & infrastructure development, following the product from drawing board through manufacture through to onsite commissioning. reckon i want to move into a project engineering type role as i much prefer a mix of site and office work with the bias set towards the former. i also have experience as a process manager [manufacturing management] and because of the unique type of incompetence dispayed by junior management in the uae, am involved in pretty much everything required to get something designed, built and shipped - supplier selection, logistics, purchasing, finance etc.
looking for something in oil/gas/energy. willing to relocate, not bothered whether it's perm [office hrs] or contract [rotation]. would love a move to the US but location also unimportant if the money is right, send me to afghan if it means a foot in the door to the OG gravy train.

hi ian. that is good to know as i work in the latter which seems to be fairly niche out here. expect a PM from me shortly.
came on here to ask if anyone knows anyone at wood group psn? spent a bit of time looking at their careers site earlier and there are a few roles i am interested in [uae and global]. it'd be good to speak to someone with regard to my experience [heavy industry but non OG] and where i should pitch myself.
any mech biased OG boys on here i would also appreciate a chat and some advice over dinner and drinks [no homo], my shout.

Not convinced I haven't just jumped out of a frying pan into a fire with my job change a few months ago, but if anyone is asked to attend an assessment centre/complete ability/personality tests etc, thats part of what I do (sorry!) and I'm happy to help with a bit of off-line prep, (as I doubt you'd have been briefed properly from what I've seen of internal recruitment/agencies over here..)

I've lost yours as BB got wiped
I'll bite too - I'm a Client based Project Manager, involved with (substantially) Infrastructure, Systems, People and Process change in large Built Asset organisations (Aviation, Rail, Retail, Power).
I'm interested in exploring the leap to the UAE, so please PM if you think you have something..

Ian you have PM.Mike, I'll PM you my no. Have got one contact in Wood Group but he has no direct contact with anyone involved in hiring.
Everyone else if you need to bolster your mech/project engineering team, have a 7 figure salary and company porsches then get in touch. salary negotiable, will take a yaris at a push!
bumpety bump.
still in the same company, although this year has seen a move into project engineering/commissioning - power projects.
back in the office today after a few weeks break and feels like i'm walking through treacle. i have a meeting with HR tomorrow about a new role [full time project engineer on rotation] but the salary is risible and i feel like i'm only interested because i have no other options.
looking for a decent mech-biased engineering role in OG/energy/mining/heavy industry. doesn't have to be in the UAE although if i move i would prefer to get out of the GCC altogether.
tips/contacts/CV critique all welcome.
