My car has developed a really annoying noise. It sounds like a rear bearing or something, but someone has said its 'just' the tyres. It's that rotational sort of road noise, if that makes sense, and it at its worst at around 100kph.
The tyres are cheap Dunlop ste and are well over a year old. Would a new set of quality tyres make a world of difference?
If so, could anyone recommend any?

Cheers.

Your tyres might be 'cupped', which means that if you look at the side profile each of the tread blocks are scalloped. Irreversible I'm afraid, but if you can rotate them and live with noise it'll save you buying a new set.

Cheers. I don't mind replacing the tyres, but just want to be sure it's them that's casuing the problem!

Oh, loved the Yallabanana link....getting the scratches and polishing done...and perhaps the wheels refurb!

Cheers.

any wobble associated with it? most likely a bearing from the description.

No worries. Check the tyres for scalloping before you do anything else. If this is the case, you'll also need the suspension aligned.

It didn't sound strange to me mate, but then I had never driven it before, so no idea what it should sound like.

Honestly, if I had to drive a great distance, I'd take Lisa's car!
