Right, before I renew what I have (Nilesat & Hotbird!) does anyone know of any other English satelites I can pick up from here. The tv guy mentioned W3, but said it was mainly Turkish. Why the heckers can't I get Sky, when the rest of the world has it, including New Zealand..all the way down there.
Also, how do the likes of the Underground Pub get all the premiership football, F1 in Engrish etc? That MUST be through a dish of some kind?

Wondered the same thing, I have a receiver, donated by a colleague that I'd love to use.
He had it hooked up to the Internet somehow and the encryption decoding was handled that way, unfortunately I don't have the details of the supplier and no one I speak to seems to know the first thing about it.

Tell me more....much more. Are you suggesting there is a way where I can use my parents sky details (who reside in the UK) to watch it here?

Phil,
I have the F1 on about 15 different channels and all of them are in Arabic!

not 100% on it but you need a box like a dreambox or technomate with LAN you enter a line to connect to another persons bot and recieve all channels be it sky or any other satellite provide within range

I'm not in Dubai but I can help a little here as I've been through all this myself. If you can get nilesat then you just need a Jazeera Sports card to get all the premiership games in English presented by Andy Gray and Richard Keys, they were around 500 Riyals here in Qatar for the whole season.

As for the other part, you need someone who knows card sharing and their satellites well. Hotbird and Nilesat gives you plenty of channels but it is possible to get Sky Italia, Canal, Sky Poland, BBC HD etc. if you can set up a dish to pick up Astra 19.2, I can do so in Qatar so you should have no problems. In the Middle East Star Track boxes are quite popular, you need to learn about CCCcams, Mgcamds etc. if you want to set it up yourself.

If any of them are Abu Dhabi sports then you just need to change the audio to English, I think they use the BBC audio feed.

Sky Player or Sky Go on iPad and stream to telly via Sky TV. you need a VPN, but it works well for me.

Good point! If you know someone in the UK with a Sky subscription then Sky Go with a VPN is the way to go as it works very well, as long as you have an internet connection. Obviously you wouldn't get all the premiership games but Jazeera Sports is very cheap for a whole season's worth of football that includes champion's league as well as International and Spanish football.

I use my old dears Sky Acc to watch Sky on an iPad but it won't play on tv with an iPad-HDMI connector, audio only.

Have you managed to get it on a TV?

Ah gotcha.

No Apple TV here, don't see the point in it.

Well in the lounge we have a Mac mini with VPN so can watch BBC iPlayer, ITV player, Sky etc. Have Apple TV in the bedrooms so can watch all the films and telly programmes we have on iTunes, plus can stream UK telly to the TV so saving on buying another Mac mini.
