If all goes to plan (touch wood), I'll be putting my feet up on a beach for the rest of my time in around 5-6 years. Now while that sounds lovely, it will mean never having more than a bike to punt around on and my car days are over.

I need a GT3. I just do. For a bit.

Can I get a decent 997.2 GT3, keep it for a year and sell it for about the same amount?

All depends mate, if you get the right car then sure.

Also 997.2 are still only 3 years old, they are still going to depreciate in the next few years. 997.1 on the other hand have levelled out quite nicely.

How much money have you got to spend?

Money isn't really the defining issue. If I can sell it to the missus that depreciation will be minimal then I'll be fine - hehe

You would be better buying one and keeping it thirty years- the perfect win win situation.
You get a perfect car, you also get the profit later on.

(Less fuel, insurance, maintenance, tyres etc etc etc, but this is man maths)

good luck!

in all seriousness, you must know enough people from the porsche club to get a handle on this?

would a 996 satisfy? the blue on on dubizzle was a bargain price and it will always find a home outside dubai come sale time. ze germans like repatriating them as their home market is rather steep for second hand cars.

saw a stunning viper green gt3rs on the palm friday, i say go for it!

996 will be a bit more raw and is unlikely to drop in price any further. You will experience the last of the great analogue Porsches and might well sell on at a profit.

My Porsche man maths all used up i'm afriad. Having missed 2 cancelled order Cayenne GTSs last week, got called by the salesguy yesterday saying they had one sat in the showroom in right colour / spec etc. Arrived to find a local gentleman and his good wife sat in it. I immeditely produced the cheque book and told the salesman to kindly eject said people from the vehicle as it was sold.

I then looked at Mrs Jules, who was wondering exactly what was going on..... especially since the episode 4 months ago when i neglected to mention i had replaced the Lambo......
Managed to convince her there was an excellent financial reason behind both purchases. Man Maths ......
