Anyone in IT

Hi Guys,

I am currently working as a Senior Developer in the UK and like to move to Gulf states.

I have been applying for IT jobs online but never had a single reply. HR seems st in Gulf countries as they can't be bothered to send a one email saying you have not been successful.

Any advice please.

Unless you're already in one of the big firms and apply for an international transfer, I'd say you'd struggle to get something out here. Most IT developer positions are filled by Indian nationals who would take a much lower salary than an equivalently-skilled westerner.

Also, unless the company is explicitly looking to employ from overseas, you're gonna face an uphill struggle applying on spec with a UK CV. A lot of companies don't want to go through the hassle and expense of bringing people out if they can fill the spot locally.

Best bet is to get out here for a bit, set up coffee meetings with recruiters and wait. No local headhunter is gonna chase around for someone they've only met via e-mail/skype over someone they'd met/hand beers with.

Local experience and connections are unfortunately worth a lot more than a stellar CV out here.
