Right, all being well I will be arriving in Doha about midday on Thursday and leaving early doors on Sunday. As we will shuttling between the Hotel (Swiss Bell) and Losail circuit each day we thought we would rent a car this trip. We are looking at a small 4 door saloon and collecting from the airport. Any ideas on who would be the cheapest and ones to avoid?

We have a race bike thrash around Losail, the rental is just to get us to the circuit and back (in race mode......).

The most straight forward would be europecar as they have a place at the airport and with anyone else they probably wont even turn up. Service is way worse than it is in Dxb / AD.

I would also avoid the Corniche as major roadworks have it blocked up.

EDIT: I've just seen you are staying at swiss belhotel, ouch, you're going to have a real headache staying there with the traffic. Is it too late to change it to a hotel in west bay?

Will you be looking for anywhere to go for a beer or meal?

http://www.dohaairport.com/en/transport_hotels/ren... should help for a list of companies based at the airport, I would strongly recommend not straying from that list. Also, make sure you take photo's of every inch of the car outside before taking it.

If we come (we will known for sure this morning) it will be Swiss Bell as the rider gets 50% off the room bill and for the mechanics it is QAR400 inc. breakfast & internet. Time wise we don't finish at the circuit until nearly 11pm Friday and Saturday so by the time we have wrapped up it will be closer to mid-night.

Eurocar appear to be the cheapest by some margin and thanks for the heads up photographing every inch of the car.

Ok, well the timing should help the traffic situation. I will be there with one of the drivers for the Qatar Challenge that is running at the same time, I'll come say hi, I take it I just ask for a guy called Ian (how hard can it be?) haha!
