Is this a common issue for others living in Dubai?

I pay for 16Mps download with Etisalat (unfortunately that's all I have the option of in this building)

I'd say 50% of the time I do get the 16mps - sometimes as high as 20. But other times I notice its gone slow, for example today I am getting less than 1mps. Last time I had this issue it lasted about a month. and I was told it was due to a cable being repaired.
It's pretty annoying but it seems like you just have to deal with it? Despite the fact you are paying for Internet that should be 16 times quicker than what you are actually getting!

Anyone else slow on Etisalat lately or is it just me!

I'm with DU and the speed is pretty stable. When it does go wrong it seems it's due to re-patching within the building for new customers. Whenever someone new moves in I get different T.V channels for a while (everything went bollywood last week)and my internet speed changes until they figure what cable goes where.

Pretty much what the chap in the flat before me said would happen in my building, (he's a telecoms engineer..)

I've posted a few times how frustrated I get with Etisalat. They're absolutely useless.

I've got to admit, I've had very little problem with Etisalat, both out in the desert residence and the creekside apartment.

What really gets me though is their mobile services and the pitiful customer service on these.

As matey says, they are having an issue this week. My SmartTV is down this week becuase of the issues and it will take 2 days to sort.

Not sure about the fluctuation in connection, thats pretty annoying. However I think Du are pretty crap for a million reasons over the years...so dont move and think it will get any better.

Here is something which might make you smile though. In the past I have been so frustrated with Du that I made a little amends to their logo and posted it.

Cheers all.

The link pretty much covers both of the times when mine has slowed right down.
Interesting to know about the drop when they link someone new up in the apartment, that probably explains why my etisalat box says it needs resetting and drops all my channels sometimes.

And that logo pretty much sums things up!

Although that said, I changed to Du after getting so annoyed with etisalat customer service on my mobile and I have found them better so far!

Agreed - DU are better than Etisalat but that's a bit like saying Goering was one of the nicer Nazis.

Ha, yes 'Better' is used in the loosest possible meaning of the word.
