Toying with the idea of changing my car but I currently have no valid lease document for my apartment as my landlord is playing funny buggers (I've posted on that previously). I can't remember whether I'll need the lease document to get a new car registered or if a DEWA bill is sufficient? Can anyone confirm either way?

Are you meaning in terms of registering a newly bought used car at the RTA or buying brand new from a dealer.

If the former then I've never needed a DEWA bill for anything, if the latter then I can't help as I am allergic to depreciation so never buy from dealers!!

I've registered 2 new cars in the last year and both times I've needed my Dewa bill and tenancy agreement, I do however have an Abu Dhabi visa and live in Dubai, not sure if that makes a difference.

I'm meaning the former as also allergic to new car depreciation! I'm sure I needed both my lease document and dewa bill last time but can't remember.

Same boat same thing, as far as I aware you only need the tenancy agreement and dewa bill if your visa is in another emirate.

That must be the case as my visa is DXB and my cars are registered in DXB and I've never needed a tenancy agreement / DEWA and I must have registered a half dozen cars in my name so far.

I have Abu Dhabi visa, but just renewed my car in Dubai. I just sat at the VIP desk in Tasjeel and they did everything for me - didn't even ask to see my Emirates ID, Passport, Driving License - nothing. In and out within 15 minutes

OK it's just dawned on me that I have a Sharjah visa. Hence I assume I had to produce the lease and DEWA so I could keep the car on Dubai plates. I guess then if I go through the hassle of exporting to Sharjah and putting it on a Sharjah plate I shouldn't have to produce a lease document or DEWA bill. Anyone have experience of living in Dubai and registering a car in Sharjah?

If your car is currently on Dubai plates, then just goto the VIP desk when you do the renewal - never checked my papers whilst I was there.

I'm actually looking to sell and buy something else. So it's the registering the something else bit I'm concerned about. Don't want to sell and be stuck having to rent a car until such time as my landlord decides to act less like an idiot and more like a decent person (could be some time!).
