Hi guys,

I was wondering if a couple of you might be able to confirm something with me, basically it is starting to look like I will be moving back to the Emirates in the New Year, to either Dubai or Abu Dhabi, (I don't know which would be better at the minute). Anyway, I was wondering if I would face any major problems bringing my Z06 with me? I own the car 100% so there are no financial matters to worry about, I was just wondering if the age or fact it is from Qatar will give me any issues? In Qatar you cant bring in a car if it is over 4 years old.

Here are the cars details...

KM 30,000
4 years old (in April 2014).
ECU retune
K&N Air filter
ZR1 Aero

I dont think I would be able to find another in the condition this one is so I really want to keep it if I can.

I can't think of any reason why it would be an issue.

Paracetmol brings in much older metal from the States to move on, he might be able to advise the best way of doing things.

As long as you can export it out of Qatar, the UAE will welcome it in no problems. They go on the assumption that the exporting country does all the legal checks, once it arrives at the port here it can be imported and then registered - but you need to have residency here to get it in.

There was a rule about age of "new" cars at one stage, not sure on the details though, sorry.
The Grumpy Goat could not take his Prado from here to Qatar so sold it an bought a Terios. Coming back from Qatar to Dubai he was able to bring the Terios.

Thanks for that guys! Well I'm in the UAE for a quick look this weekend. Talking to the boss it seems like it is a case of when I move not IF. I just hope it is after Christmas as I've paid for the next 3 National Sprint races at Lusail. smile

I'm back from dubai/abu dhabi!...it was quite an eye opening experience too! Although I worked on the Westin at Abu Dhabi I'd never been into town until this weekend. I found it to be just like Doha but more spread out and a whole lot less convenient to get around as there are speed cameras EVERYWHERE and the speed limit is 60/80...to be honest I wasn't impressed atall but I guess at least if I live there Dubai is a short hop away and I will be doubling the amount of tracks I can do trackdays on! Hopefully I will be transferred to Dubai but to be honest either would be the change of scenery I think I need.

2 things I noticed while in the UAE is WOW you guys pay ALOT more for petrol than us, and secondly I might have to think twice about using the Z06 as a daily run around as the speedbumps in the UAE are horrendous. I went over a couple on main roads I am certain the Z06 wouldnt stand a chance of clearing!
