Basic Car Selling advice
Discussion
Hi,
Please can someone advise on the process.
I have a Pajero, it is insured and tested.. it will be a cash sale of around 30k.
What do I have to do when a buyer wants it?
Cheers
Mark
(oh and if you know anyone that wants a 6 month old 5000km Ford Edge Sport with 45k off list, please point them my way)

Goto Tasjeel test centre, queue up as normal to test with the car, go inside and wait for your number to be called. Meet buyer inside waiting area.
Once you receive pass paper, head over to typing desk with buyer and they'll fill in the required forms for around 15 Dhs. If you need insurance walk outside to the insurance office and sort it.
Walk up to end of front counter and tell them you're selling, they'll give you a new number and you can proceed to the 2nd row of counters.
Wait some more.
Once your number is called go up to the counter with the buyer with the forms plus your Emirates ID (and theirs) and proceed to tell them everything that you told the guy at the typing counter once again.
Pay off any outstanding fines on your license, pay the transfer fees and then wander down to the end counter for the buyer to pick up his sticker for the numberplate (and new plates if you've decided to keep your old ones).
Grab the cash from the buyer, give them the keys (the car'll be parked out the back), find a cab home.
Should take around an hour all in.

The buyer needs to show his insurance certificate at the time that the transfer is actually taking place (the final queue) Whilst you can get insurance inside the RTA, I found it massively more expensive so have always made sure that my buyers (and myself when I'm buying) have already done the insurance.
I've done the RTA shuffle about 20 times now, it's pretty straightforward but was a touch confusing the first time.
Is it Barsha RTA you're using?

Just another note, I think I've found your Edge on Dubizzle and it seems to be on Abu Dhabi plates..... I sold a DXB plated car to AUD last year and the procedure had a couple of extra steps in it, not sure if it'll be the same the other way around but you may need to put it on export plates from AUD to bring in to DXB if you sell it to someone here.

Barsha is maybe closest (The Lakes).. unless anybody knows of a better spot
Well thanks for the help all.
One little Dubaiism, went to kiosk.. Said fastback was lane one.. Queued in car, got out The car and had some advice from a tech that I should take my keys and report to fast track desk.. Went there.. Desk said no fast track lane today.. Go back to your car and wait for tech.. Waited 1 minute, tech appeared and took car, went back to desk!
One tip.. Buyer needed copies of visa, ID card and license.. Which luckily mine did. (And he had a fine to pay!)
270aed for fastrack, 300aed for transfer... Took 15 minutes ( kept same license plate number)
Oh and the car testing? Ha.. 4 tyres, check, not bald, check, shine a torch a bit.. Move it out...
