I'm guessing they built the building first, then thought "oh bugger, that's a lot bigger than it looked on the drawing - how the hell are we going to fill this up!"

Oh dear I was hoping to read something like "much better than I expected, worth going", sounds like it is as expected.

Any idea what the water park is like ?

The water park is apparently excellent, a friend's daughter has been a number of times and apart from the queues she declared it better even than wild wadi

Didn't go to the water park I'm afraid. I think it would be great for kids, most of the attractions seemed to be aimed at them, but there's not that much for anyone else. What's there is very well done, but many of the attractions could have been found anywhere, there's just a slim convoluted connection to Ferrari. Most disappointing was the lack of actual cars. There's a small section with a 288GTO, F50, F40 and a couple of others, which are impressive bits of metal, but none of the current range and nothing that showcased the technology. The rides that simulated a trip around the factory and a tour of Ferrari racing through the years were pretty basic and again aimed at children. That said, the roller coasters are very impressive, - Formula Rossa has to be experienced, the acceleration is amazing. The simulators were also good fun.

Yup, other than experiencing the Formula Rossa there's really not all that much there to keep adults entertained. Definitely worth trying the Formula Rossa though as the acceleration really is something else!

Simon and me went - it was rubbish.

There was also a queue of nearly 2 hours for the Rosso ride so we sacked it off and went to watch the track day at Yas. Much more fun.

Formula Rossa is the only reason to go - not sure it's worth the full entry price though. The rest are rides bought from a catalogue with Ferrari shoe-horned into them
