Anyone know where you can buy a 3.5mm headphone to 2 x pin (as used on Emirates seats for the in-flight entertainment)adapter in Dubai? Tried all the electronics stores in Dubai mall, staff there just looked at me like I was mad....

Don't need if you're flying Emirates, just plug it in the top hole and comes through both cans, as discovered last week on the way back from Cape Town.

The electronics shops in the airport terminals sell them. Of course you always run the risk of them not having though.

On nearly all aircraft I have found that if you plug a single 3.5mm jack right in, then pull it out a little bit, you get both ears. As long as you don't pull on the cord or knock it back in, then job's a good'un.

Failing that, buy the Bose noise cancelling headphones, they come with a 'free' double hack adaptor (for only AED1300!)

Yep, exactly this on Emirates.

Yes, they are a bit cheaper here than in the UK. Even cheaper in the US, but I couldn't wait that long...

Cheers for the tip for using normal earphones. The only downside seems to be that my sennheisers are so much better than the crappy standard headphones that you get deafened whenever there's a P.A announcement!

That's familiar to me too! I always find myself diving for the cable to pull it out when I notice the movie suddenly pauses....

If you even fly semi-regularly I recommend a good set of Noise Cancelling headphones.

I always used to use my 'Noise Isolating' Klipsch Image S4 on the plane but since switching to Bose QC15s I notice the difference in how refreshed I feel after the flight.

I don't fly that often but the difference is temazepam.

Glorious stuff.
