there's a decent market here [due to climate] for dessicants and moisture absorbers. unless you have a good reason [school / charity] then i can't why they'd give them away.

You can get Silica Gel cat litter, it's the white granules with blue flecks.
Available in most supermarkets, more desiccant than you would ever need.
