Given this is my first post here I'll probably introduce myself separately - but for now am looking for a clean / safe place to store 1-2 cars which I don't drive daily but maybe once or twice a month on weekends. So the place should fairly accessible (ideally 24/7) and free from dust with the right temperature / humidity.
You see cars parked / stored at "open underground parking" in office towers etc., but there you collect a fair amount of dust and nobody watches over them...so not ideal.

Does anyone happen to know of companies offering this? I guess it must be available somewhere in Al Quoz or similar places?

Thanks!

tough one this. having looked for a similar solution where i could also work on the car, i think it's only a a goer if you are prepared to pay decent money or you have a friend with premises who owes you a favour. there's talk from time to time in the car club forums of people chipping in to rent a lock up, but dig into it and the costs and red tape stack up very quickly.

i think a couple of the motorsport outfits still rent storage space but last i heard it was about 5k a month. enthusiasts and home mechanics are a tiny minority in dubai. other than petrol, most things car related don't come cheap.

easiest solution is to buddy up to the security guys in your building and either buy a cover or pay the guys to keep it clean. we have 1 allocated space and 3 cars, probably being joined by a 4th soon. i can also take my tools and workbench down there and as long as i keep it tidy the security company let me be. i also know a guy in motor city who has 1 allocated space and 5 cars!

PS - welcome to our sandy corner of ph biggrin

A friend of mine runs Parc Ferme Workshop in DIP and they specialise in exactly what you're looking for.

Full details at www.parcfermeworkshop.com or call Motaz directly on 050 456 2083, tell him Tom gave you his number.

DIP might seem a bit out of town, but honestly it takes me less than 20 minutes to get there from my place in Dubai Marina and it's a darn sight easier finding it than on some weird back street in Al Quoz (I know, I work in Al Quoz).

Seriously, give him a call and pop down for a visit. He's a proper car guy and the team down there look after some seriously heavy metal, so you'll be in safe hands.

As you already mentioned in your earlier note, the paperwork involved in getting this kind of operation setup isn't easy. Rent/DEWA/Staffing/Overheads are not as cheap as people think out here, not to mention insurance for all the vehicles in their care.

i agree to an extent. but 400 a month for a parking space and weekly wash is a tad daft imvho. it would make sense on a temporary or shared basis as somewhere to build and maintain a kit/race car, but i guess that isn't on the cards.

of course, i'm just an 'umble chimmerney sweep with more sense than money.
