Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge

Hi All,

The FIA / FIM is back in town with the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge

The event starts on Saturday the 6th of April with a special stage at YAS Marina Circuit R8 area at 15:00.

So mark it in your diaries and come along to check out some of the best off road machines in the world !

I'm lucky enough to be there with Ian the Dog and Newtrix Racing.

Once the event is underway they sometime publish a map with viewing points for the main legs which are all based from Qasr Al Sarab in the Liwa region.

I'm planning on heading down for a few days to catch some of the stages.

Anyone give any advice on getting around with little off-road driving experience? Anyone I could tag along with?

The special stage is at Yas so access there is easy.

The bivouac is at the Qasr Al Sarab hotel, so again road access.

The service point in the midle of each stage is also on tarmac.

They sometimes post on the web site a spectator pack with rough details of the route and a map. However they only do this at the very last minute to stop people pre running the route. Best thing is to keep checking out the website.

for those interested, newtrix are car 222. split the field with 25th place in the special stage from 50 starters. still on stage today, no results in yet but they're still running. must be tons of fun in this weather!

You guys should volunteer if you want to see the good bits. My mum has done so for the last few years and is in charge of taking a camera crew from point to point to follow the rally this year.

16th overall and 2nd UAE based team over the line. given the punishment these cars take and the budgets of the ig teams, this is a phenomenal result!
