visas and stuff
Discussion
just wondered if the font of ph knowledge has any input in this.
my mate is here on resident status with his family. he is british, she is korean but no uk passport as even though they've been married 5yrs she's never been in the uk continually long enough to qualify for residency. in fact it was just about to be rubber stamped before they moved out here... 2 kids which i believe have joint uk/korean citizenship. she does not work at present.
anyhow, he's been offered a pretty lucrative job in papua on a 4/4 rotation. unusally for this company he was approached by them and the interview was a formality. he's been offered the job pending agreement on package but at this stage they have intimated they will not make visa arrangements until he is proven in the job [6mth probation]. they can arrange UAE or AUS visas after this, his strong preference is to stay tax free
i've advised he is in a strong position to push back on this but if they stick to their guns he is 99% likely to accept anyway. this means the family lose residency status and they will likely base themselves in korea for a year. my mate isn't keen as he doesn't speak the lingo and the schools aren't upto much.
so, what are the options for them staying in dubai? wife is a trained accountant but lets say she gets ANY job what are the chances/obstacles of extending this to the kids?
plan b would be to set up a freelance deal with one of the RAK/Fujairah companies who essentially sponsor the visa and lease you an office. again does anyone know if this visa would extend to the kids?
in either case the job isn't important and the business doesn't need to be profitable. they just need a permanent home in the uae and my mate can come in on a 30 day ticket.
anyone?

B should work, a colleague that had a company on the side sponsored his wife, kid and maid through one.
They are plugging the one in Fujeirah hard on the radio at the moment, obviously desperate for money.

If she decides to get a job herself, she'll need the following to get a visa for her daughter....
minimum earning 5,500 a month
property rental contract in her name (husbands name isn't accepted)
salary certificate (in Arabic)
No objection letter from the husband, stamped and attested by UK embassy
copy of her visa
I'm helping a friend through this process at the moment and it's a real ballache
