Looking for a car for the wife as she's going to be back to work soon and I thought we'd have a look at the Nissan Xterra as an option (it has big black bumpers for her to bounce off things).

We walk into the showroom after working out how the hell to get to it, not simple, and ask the greeting lady if they have one we can look at. Without a word she looks back at the girl on reception who, with a face like a dropped pie, grimaces and shakes her head. The first one simply says, 'not abaylabel', and we turn 90 degrees and walk out. We must have been in there for less than 30 seconds after 10 minutes of driving around trying to get to the place.

Well done Nissan Dubai - Rule 101 of sales, if some displays the remotest of interest in one of your products, take their details and take it from there.

Morons.

It's not just Nissan.

BMW, Audi, Mercedes...

Limited product knowledge and zero sales skills.

Morons indeed.

fairly affluent people walk in knowing what they want.. out of stock? .. easy day for them. frown

Sales skills required in this market.. none (apart from knowing what the 'best price' is smile)

I always thought that you'd be able to make a killing in car (or any) sales as a Westerner with a comprehension of basic customer service - although doubt the salaries would support it!

Even if you do get the odd westerner who understands and believes in customer service the rest of the company chain still never give a censored so the system still doesn't work and the poor westerner is made to feel like a bandit

i think we have at least one ME pher in car sales. would be interesting to get their perspective.

there is a british guy who works in one of the high end dealerships on SZR but to be honest he could be selling real estate or phones. shiny suit but no product knowledge at all.

Colleagues boyfriend used to work for Audi but sacked it off about 6 months ago.

The PH'er in sales, who does he work for, Al Futtaim?

Shirt is correct, it is Volvo

we were once in Audi showroom on SZR - this sales woman (Western) was talking to some customers about the TTRS - she was getting her numbers all wrong, so i had to keep correcting her!

to be fair..the motor trade in the UK is hardly the last word in customer service...unreturned phone calls, no response to emails etc etc. My dealings with the local Mercededs dealer in AD have been exemplary.

Nissan were pretty bad when I went in there recently. Interested in a GTR I asked for information on the Nissan Warranty and they looked at me like I was an Alien. I stood there in the middle of the used car sales floor with about 8 "Sales" people around me and not one of them had a copy. I went online and got one in about 5 seconds on Google.
Seriously. I think we should all get a syndicate together..chip in 20,000aed each....Buy a shedload of cars and have Expats selling the cars...with service and people who will actually get up off their arses to sell cars. Its amazing. I am thinking of setting up a car finder service here but am mindful that there are loads of timewasters.
