Yes,
Best place to stay is Faraya which is a about 1 hour drive from main Beirut airport up into the mountain.
Accomodation options are varied, but the only real place worth staying is the Intercontiential in Faraya...if you want decent food that is, nice drink, atmostphere etc. Plus you can Ski striaght into the hotel which is nice. In all honesty, spend the money and stay at the Intercon..you will have a better time and skiing into your hotel at the end of an exhausting day is what you want...not trapsing up a hill to get your place which doesnt have a bar.
There are a number of other cheap hotels up in Faraya...however most remind me of a teenagers first ski holiday from the 80's...food is pretty crap in them too. Last time I tried one of these places I got some right dodgy eggs and was very ill. Suffice to say...try and stay at the intercon if you can and try and go midweek if possible, as it gets booked out very early on weekends. (You know how the lebanese like to reserve things)
The day passes are dirt cheap and no one goes on the mountain before the afternoon so you should have some clear slopes before then. Its of course colder and the slopes are icy in the mornings, sun comes onto them in the afternoon and easier for begginers. Do not go off piste though as there are no trees in lebanon so avalanches are a regular occurence. Its good for beggingers though if you stay on pste, nice long slopes etc. There are some annoying flat bits on many slopes, so recommend skiing and not boarding (For begginers that is)

We often go skiing for 2 days and then do a night and day in Beirut...which is as mentioned, just 1 hour from the resort. Barring traffic that is. (Dont go in rush hour up or down the mountain)

Some decent, central hotels for around 100 quid a night in Beirut are the Radisson SAS, Crowne Plaza, very good and also the Monroe hotel (However the food is pretty crap there). Crowne plaza has best internet really.
Places to go out in Beirut are Gemmayze and .....hmmm...forget the other place for the moment.

Fly Dubai go there, thats prob the cheapest and who we usually go with.

Have a good one.

Lebanon is a culinary hot spot. Some of the best food I've tasted.

As with most cities, avoid main chain hotels if you want the real food experience.

Beirut:

Places to see by day:

- Beirut Souks (high-end boutiques & new district) and the rest of Downtown Solidaire area (many cafes, ancient churches, mosques, government buildings, and little shops)
- Hamra mainstreet (one of the oldest busiest streets with small shops & cafes)
- Raouche sea-side corniche (the famous pigeon rocks are seen in the Mediterranean Sea)

In the evening:

- Gemmayze (a prominent pub-street)
- Hamra area (several small pubs scattered, mostly university students)
- Monot street (some bars)
- Momo at the Souks (modern lounge bar in the Beirut Souks)
- Buddha Bar (Downtown, Riad El-Solh St.)
- Uruguay street bars (several small new trendy bars in Downtown)
- Music Hall (large venue that serves dinner and alcohol, multicultural performances on a stage)
- Mandaloun club (Mar Mikhael St.)

Hotel - expensive but well worth it.

Restaurants most representative of tasty Lebanese cuisine in Beirut:

- Em Cherif (Monot area, behind Yabani sushi restaurant.. a set menu with a huge variety, every dish is so unique.
- Borj al-Hamam (Movenpick Hotel, Rouche)
- Leila cafe (found in Gemmayze, ABC mall Achrafiyeh, & Verdun street)
- Cafe Le Blanc (ABC mall Achrafiyeh & Hamra street)
