Importing LHD car from UK to UAE
Discussion
Hi all,
I have seen a couple of threads recently on a similar vein, but can't see any details on specific handling companies/costs invovled.
My father-in-law has an old '89 Jeep Wrangler sitting in his garage in the UK which was originally purchased in the US, so it's a left hooker. It has gathered dust for a few years now, only coming out to get a new MOT, then going back in again! It would be perfect for Dubai for 8 months a year (no aircon would hamper the other 4...)
Has anyone brought a car over from the UK? Who did you use? What costs do you have to pay when it gets here? I am guessing 10% tax based on market value + handling. Just trying to figure out if it's worth brining it over. It's worth naff all in the UK, but would cost me AED20,000 to buy the equivalent over here.
Many thanks
Rich

You can give Bob Collier a call:
He bought my porker in.
In all honesty, ballpark shipping cost...500 Quid minimum once you have done your shipping, (Roll on Roll off) and what with 5% import duty on the value and the loading and unloading charges, then there is registration.
I would just get a deal on an old one here. They may be up for 20,000aed on Dubizzle...but you will get one for half that.
