Calling all Dubai PHers...

Afternoon all. Quick question - what are you all up to on the 11th January? I'm going to be out in Dubai staying at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, for a press junket and I thought it'd be a grand plan to catch up with some of our middle-Eastern users. It looks like I'll have a couple of hours' gap in my schedule, and it'd be a pleasure to meet up with some of you if you're free and have a chat with you about your experiences of Dubai and its car culture. If you can, bring your P&J along so that I can take a few snaps, and if you're lucky it might get an airing on the site. It's not an officially-sanctioned PH meet or anything like that, and there's no need to stay for long - I just thought I'd see if anyone feels like popping along for a chat, really! Anyone down?

There are always a few of us out and about. Fridays are good, depends on what time. There are a few chaps with old 911's which are usually up for a drive and I would be up for it. Let us know what time and I can always drop a mail round a few bods.

Will crack off an email to few people in the morning and let you know. Seems good though. I would aim for Fatburger on the Jumerah Beach Road..which is where a few people normally meet anyway.

Sounds good, though I won't have transport. Is the Fatburger within walking distance? The other alternative is that people could join me at the Jumeirah Beach, though it should be stated at this point that I have no idea how the people at the Jumeirah Beach will feel about that or how busy it'll be!

Will ask the lads. However there isnt much parking at Jum Beach Hotel for cars and meeting etc. Is possible though. I would be up for coming along, leaving the car and having a few sherberts in the bar. However, most others wouldnt leave their cars there you know. Fatburger aint far from the hotel.

Ok, well I'll make some enquiries to see whether I can get myself up to the Fatburger, if that's likely to be a better place to meet!

What kind of press junket? Most of the action will be up at the Autodrome for the 24hrs. Fatburger's walkable at this time of year.

As Gaffer (aka Claire) said that is the weekend of the Dubai 24hr race. The event id free to come and watch. The team I assist will be in garage 12A and you will find me on the pit wall.

If the Dubai 24h is free to enter and most people will be going over there anyway, it looks like I'll be over there too for a few hours on the Saturday morning too. Would that be a better place to meet?

It is free entrance and open pits so a good place for a wander around.

i emailed garlick about an article covering our barcelona campaign but no response. i thought this was due to the proximity to britcar the week after but PH didn't cover that either. bizarre when a car forum shows no interest in it's members competing in such events.
