Seriously considering the new shape boxster, spotted the odd one about and keep building them online in the config thing however after having 3 back home would buying a manual one here just be stupid for re-sale?

Will openly admit ive never driven the PDK box but just cant imagine having a boxster without a 3rd pedal!!

To add to the problem the beige interior is well very beige, I could live with it yes but would much rather have the black again would that just be a silly move residually?

I had a Manual 911 and sold it in 24 hours here. I always go for Manyal, but it really depends you know. All you need is one buyer but sometimes you could be waiting months, other times it sells fast because its a manual.

What I would say is that its easier with a 911 as most people want the GT3...but go for a more usable roadcar 911 such as the S with the Clubsport Kit. (Lookalike GT3) which is what I had, and probably why it sold easier.

I would say with the Boxsters you are less likely to get someone wanting a manual. There are more 911 drivers.

Of course....as a 911 fan myself...I could say why dont you stop fannying about with Boxster and get a proper 911.? : ) Carrera S would do nicely and it does whip the Cayman S with all its gear on. (I strraightlined a chap in one and whilst they are fast the 911S is faster. ) I suppose its personal preference but I think the 911 is the nuts. The 997's here are a cracking deal...and if you are spending north of 200k aed I would grab a GT3 with a low mileage....now thats the nuts.

I do see your point with the 911's however to be honest after driving a few back in the U.K, 997 included I just didnt gel with them. A GT3 would be fantastic as a track and occasional use car but id need something to use most days which I think a GT3 here would do my t*ts in to be used that often.

Having had a few boxsters id be more than happy with another and having a new one with the warranty would be ideal for a couple of years, plus can do the odd track day here (I know would be the slowest out their but id be smiling!) then just sell it on.

Id rather do that and then get a bit of Pony power too as thats an itch which really needs scratching here especially after having two Monaro's back in the U.K im missing that V8 in my life!

Oooo american...cant say I am with you there...but I understand the reasons for getting a Boxster or Cayman re the warranty.

Re American...hmmm....could fall apart on you and they are pretty damn slow. Mind you, that Bos 302 which was for sale a few weeks back in the showroom gives out the same performance as the GT500...for a lot less. So if you are going for it thats worth a look. However like every american car...you will bleed money on depreciation.

You know, if I was spanking it roun the track I would consider an RS4...st off a shovel. You can use it everyday and they are a few low mileage ones here. Although it isnt 2WD so that takes some enjoyment out.

You know that for 4,500 AED you can get a Warranty on a 911 every year up to 8 years eh. Thats pretty damn good. I had it on mine and it covered everything. (Except the cluch...which was only 4,200 AED at Porcsche...interestingly it was over 5,500 at ARM and House of Cars)

Argh dont start posting tempting links like that lol. Be handy as an everyday car that one!!

The American V8 wont be till next year (2014) as its one id take home with me hence the questions in another thread and only one at the moment has any interest to me which is the Camaro ZL1, having had 2 supercharged LS engines they are exceptional fun. However the depreciation is also the reason to wait till next year to pick one up smile but after purchase it can fall as much as it wants here but id have every intention of taking it back, providing I can get it in to the U.K.

If its the V8 you are planning on taking home I would def check the emissions. UAE is pretty lax with emissions so may well be different to that of the UK.

Best of luck with whatever you decide on. At the end of the day...if you are talking having a Boxster and a Stang then why not just get one evil car. V12 or something.

I had a Blackish (Atlas grey) 987S with black leather, black wheels and a manual transmission and it sold in four days for a good price.

There are always people looking for manuals.

Just to add - buying any new car here is probably going to be financial suicide. It will always be a buyers market and to take a 'new car hit' must be painful unless you keep it a good few years.

My brother in law's 2.7 manual black with black leather Cayman and its replacement-3.4 Tip black with black Cayman S both sold within 2-3 days to expat buyers. The phone didnt ring off the hook but the buyers who came to see them were serious and had been looking for sometime..In each case, the warranty and low kms and expat ownership helped alot.

Ive spotted a couple of the ZL1's in the classifieds back in the U.K through dealers so they must be able to get in, plus im banking on it meeting all the US emissions malarky it should be fine, will do more research however!!

Could be tempting having something totally silly but to afford that would need to go much older than id be happy with here, plus the one to take back home will mostly be parked up and not used, want to get it back with as little mileage on as realistically can without knacking it up from zero use. Boxster be fun for a few track days and mostly commuting, also going to buy a day to day/mall run snotter which will be small and cheap, very cheap lol

Cheers for all the replies on shifting a manual car, doesnt sound as bad as feared!

6th gear yes it gets great reviews, im especially avoiding SZR at the moment incase I accidentally end up in the showroom.
