Welcome to Qatar fella, are you out here long?
I've been out 2 and a half years almost, there isn't a very active PH contingent in Qatar, except for me, I'm out at most events if I'm not taking part in them myself. There is quite alot of PistonHeadery to be had if you know where to look.
The next major events are...
Qatar Mile 2 (sometime in January)
Arabian Drag Racing League (2nd, 3rd, 4th weekends of Jan)
Qatar National Baja 4th & 5th of January

Thanks for the info, I need to buy a car first but hopefully I'll be doing as many PH things as possible, alhough I'll probably end up buying a pickup as I have family to think about too so not sure how much "fun" I'll be having.

I know a dealer leasing 3.2 Q4 159's for 3000qar a month, decent spec too from what I've seen.
I'm not a fan of the 159 but please pm me the dealer's details as I might need to lease something for a month. I'm thinking about buying a GMC Sierra or something similar though, the driving here is mental and I want something big to protect the family.147GTA said:

hi mate, I'm afraid he only leases long term,he doesn't do short term deals. Good luck on finding something suitable, my roomate just bought a new FJ Cruiser for 130,000QAR from toyota.TobyLaRohne said:
Nice! Is it the national road race championship? I wish I had the cash to get a 3 series entered but even between mates its a very expensive enterprise and any expat would be seriously outgunned by the local money.
Not sure what it is called TBH.I think initially it was going to be a 1 make series which was Honda but they could not all get cars. So now I think they have a mix bag of cars, engines etc e.g. Suzuki swifts, Honda's and a few others.
Its taken him ages to get any form of motorsport going. I have, through Evolve.ae, had numerous meetings with guys in Doha to do AutoX but it never happens

Didn't he go on a buying spree for eligable cars? He bought spencer's old honda which is in build at NFS and a few others.
Yup, he/they were desperate for cars. I think the rules and regs for getting cars into Qatar is a complete cluster fook.He was over the other day buying up FIA approved race suits/helmets etc and looking for tyres!

It's going to take Qatar a couple of generations for the youth to work their way up to the current boss's positions before change happens.
PM me and i'll give you a contact for the race gear etc. will be MUCH cheaper and wider selection.
tyres i would have thought the best bet would be to get a deal going with one of the majors as a control tyre/series sponsor. otherwise it'd be far cheaper to import them.
good luck to the guy. perhaps if it is succesful he should arrange something akin to the dubai 300km race for GT/TC classes and invite the UAETCC grid.
