Hi all.
Finally bought a car after much searching. It seems good stuff sells very quickly out here. I was originally going to go for a big family performance saloon saloon but decided to get a sensible family bus and something fun for myself. Managed to find a 2008 VW Touareg 3.6 V6, which seems perfect for the commute and everyday duties. It was way cheaper than what I'd pay in the UK. It seems to be built like a tank.
I'm now on the look out for an E36 or E46 M3 as a weekend/track car. When I find one of these I intend to make a few changes. Specifically, I want to upgrade the brakes and suspension. Anyone know if the RTA will allow upgraded calipers and coilovers? I may also do some breathing mods to the intake and exhaust and possibly fit more supportive bucket seats. I won't go as far as a cage or stripping the interior.

Can't see any issue with calipers or coliovers.
Cage will be bloody difficult, scrap that idea.
'Breathing' mods are a grey area, you'll get away with a larger air filter but they are quite hot on excessive noise from non standard exhausts.
I had to bin my axle backs, they wouldn't pass my car with them on

The gt500 axle backs? I wouldve thought a ford stamped part would be ok. Plus it's only an hour max to change them for the test.
Strange how most desert modded 4x4s seem to pass easily enough.
No, Borla, sounded wonderful.Strange how most desert modded 4x4s seem to pass easily enough.
I sold them for more than I paid for them so not such a bad result.
When mine was being tested there was a Neeeesan Badrol in the next bay, turbo'd, straight through pipes on it by the sounds of it.
I pointed at it when the guy said 'fail, make stock exhaust' to me and he just smiled, shrugged and walked off.

Sounds a lot like my current E36 M3. No issues in passing her with bucket seats, changed suspension, front brake upgrade.I'm now on the look out for an E36 or E46 M3 as a weekend/track car.
