I have been looking around Abu dhabi for a decent music and video shop.

In the UK I had a love film subscription + sky movies. I can not find anything like this in AUH. I have not been shopping in DXB yet.

I am looking for a HMV or similar to do blu rays, Xbox/ps3 games.

Virgin Stores are in Mall of Emirates and Mercato (beach Road) in Dubai (they may have other shops).

I have no idea about Abu Dhabi.

Sharaf DG do Xbox and PS3 games, they may even do movies, not 100% sure.

Most of the electrical stores, toy shops, virgin stores (one in every large mall) in dubai have them.

However, they are overpriced compared to UK and censored.

I have a Apple TV purchased from one of the Virgin shops linked to a UK iTunes account and I just rent / buy music and HD films through that. The added bonus is that they are immediately availble on my ipad, laptop etc to view or listen to.

I use my love fim account here with a VPN from watchuktv, the other option is to set up a sling box with a sky account in the UK.

As mentioned the stuff here is censored, got a film the other week and had 18mins of footage missing!

But virgin sell them, spinneys supermarkets have them aswell and are a bit better priced than virgin.

You know...you can watch streaming series at www.seriescravings.info (Saves you having to download)

Excellent site and doesnt buffer or stop whilst watching. We have been watching it for months and it hasnt paused once. Connect your laptop with a HDMI cable to the TV...full screen and you are aware. Decent quality too.
We have 4GB connection (Supposedly - you never know here)
And re games...got to get Modern Warfare 2 and 3. The nuts.

Sharaf DG and they are ridiculously expensive compared to the UK.

I have sotrted out TV for when i arrive, i have a Media PC/Server at home with all of the freeview channels so i can stream theat from my UK address to AUH no problem. Cant do Sky though I have setup my own

Will be bringing my current XBOX games MW2/MW3 etc otherwise i will go made with boredom. Will be buying a new XBOX though.

Seems like i will have to default to buying through Itunes. would prefer to have a hard copy!

There is no replacement for a spinning disc in a player. I do have all of my media in MKV format at home but they are converted from the films i buy.

Looks like i will have to buy them at home and get my son to load them in the server and convert them for me... Then transfer via VPN to AUH.

I'm a piratebay convert now, too.

Apple TV and a good DVD rip download is just as good as physical DVD, IMO. I have a load of DVDs but the availability, price and censorship out here just made it too frustrating to continue with that.

I don't really agree with illegal downloading and if back in the UK I'd probably get one of the online subscription things but unfortunately that's not an option here.
