spot the difference
Discussion
I've seen one-
Its no longer in my carparking space?
In fact, i hadn't even been down there to look.
The other difference is- I still cant get into my carparking space as someone (clue- left Dubai again this morning) still has my permit
Unless its in my boot???
Have a good trip though mate, i will of course take care of what needs taking care of for you, and you can buy me a pint when you get back.

Comedy gold. He sent the team an e-mail this morning which said " Russian emirates air hostesses. Oh my word yes! Excellent start to the day "Do you think we had better warn the grid girls?
forgot the pass sorry mate. i did bring it over whilst you were away but it wouldn't fit under/around your front door and i've no clue where your postbox is.
hitch - aye i've prob gone slightly OTT but all the above only took a few hours. when back together it'll be a hell of a lot more reliable, stop and corner better, go faster and won't have such retarded cooling and electrical systems!

first day back in the garage since barca. egged on and assisted by jase, this is what the clubby had been reduced to!
string lines are where some additional bracing beams will be welded in. front suspension mount points will be reinforced and the pedal area modded to accept the new box, then she'll be blasted and sprayed ready to be reassembled when all the shiny bits arrive from the uk.

maybe i could do it flintstones style?
disappointing, the national layout is a favourite. realistically looking like i'll be ready for the one on the 27th october or the evolve speed run on the 26th. looks like my first go on the abdab GP circuit will be the 14th nov. if you fancy joining me?

26th should be fun. Oval circuit with a few cones dotted here and there to make it more interesting.disappointing, the national layout is a favourite. realistically looking like i'll be ready for the one on the 27th october or the evolve speed run on the 26th. looks like my first go on the abdab GP circuit will be the 14th nov. if you fancy joining me?
some progress pics, unfortunately lost 2 weeks to get the chassis back for what i hoped would be 3-4 days.
cage modded to include the dash bar which was then triangulated down to the engine bay. the square section bar is to hang the electrics onto. i wasn't 100% convinced of the need to triangulate this back to the dash rail but hey ho.
the trans tunnel used to go completely horizontal and the upright was about 100mm back from the joint of the ladder frame. jason pointed out it would be simple and easy to alter it so that the bars followed the load path properly, so we did.
the front section had one diagonal brace, now it becomes a y brace for added stiffness. we would have made it a full x brace but that would fould the engine mounts.
another diagonal was added at the very front, filleted to add strength where the square tube is notched to clear the steering rack. an 18 gauge panel was welded underneath and all the suspension brackets were heated and squared up. fillets were added to front and rear pickup points to ensure they stay square!
18 gauge panels were stitched on in place of the old riveted ally, with full seams on all visible panels in the inner tub.
and the new OBP pedal box stitched in.
all in all, a massive improvement in stiffness for 5-10kg weight penalty. that will be negated by junking the heavy seats in favour of a foam insert.
only negative is that i had to sent it back for repaint as the painter completely ignored my instructions re: paint system and oven curing. this was the result of wrapping in cling to protect it on the journey to barsha:
looks like an elephants' foreskin but guess i can;t complain at a whopping 800AED for the welding, blasting and spray! it's being stripped today and redone in marine epoxy primer and 2 pack PU base & top coats. hopefully i can start rebuilding by midweek.
hubs and uprights are cleaned/degreased ready for paint tomorrow, new discs, pads, caliper rebuild kit, all new bearings, rod ends, bolts etc. waiting to go on. just need the bloody chassis back!

it is an ambitious target now, but yes i really hope so. failing that there's the national circuit on the 2nd nov.
i really need to crack on and get the engine back in ASAP as sam is here and very kindly offered to do the lion's share of the wiring before he leaves again.
Get a wriggle on, can use you for the Crank and Piston thing!i really need to crack on and get the engine back in ASAP as sam is here and very kindly offered to do the lion's share of the wiring before he leaves again.
I would offer my rebuild services, however I am fecking useless at all that kind of thing!
you should have gone up to the track day the other week in that case, there were a pair of caterhams [one r500 spec, the other with a 350bhp cosworth turbo lump!] and a toyota powered westie.
i'd also say that the evolve fun run would be worth a trip for pictures, there's going to be a particularly droolworthy mk1 escort in attendance,
