4 x 4 - Abu Dhabi
Discussion
Hi folks, wondering if any of you can help out my sister.
She's been living in AbuDhabi for a year now and her bus to school is no longer running, she wants to buy a car to get around in and 4 x 4 seems to make the most sense for keeping for 2 years and then selling on again.
She knows about the 15 year rule etc.
What i'm looking for is anyone who has a reputable source of 4x4's over there or can give her some useful advice for buying one.
She doesn't want to buy new but happy to pay the right money for a car which won't lose too much over the 2 years.
Any help, much appreciated. She goes back over on Thu and will be looking to buy within a month.
Ta,
Olie

Best option (budget dependent) will be to buy something that is a year old, someone has taken the hit on year one but she will still have at least 2 years warranty and probably a service pack.
All GCC spec cars will be imported through one dealer so even is she is looking on the second hand market, get her to look on http://abudhabi.dubizzle.com/classified/autos4x4s/ then she can get the VIN Number from the seller and get the dealer that imported it to give her the history of the car, whether it has been serviced on time, balance of warranty etc etc.
Not a completely foolproof method if it has been crashed and the owner didn't have agency repair but I would imagine most would do a prepurchase inspection for a nominal fee. Alternatively, a PH'er runs a garage in Dubai that would do it for her but it may be difficult to get the car from AD for that.
Does she have an idea on budget?

that's just dubizzle categories, there are 100bhp bands to choose from hen placing an ad.
that wrangler looks very well put together.
Yup, increments of 100bhp only on the drop down box, however, does not stop you actually stating the bhp number in the Ad.that wrangler looks very well put together.
That was my thought, that Wrangler looks very well sorted and very well looked after - but at AED100K????
ha! i considered it but i've just chucked a fair bit of money to get it perfect so i want to get some use out of it over winter.
olly - even something totally fked would be worth £1-2k out here. for 30k though she'd be much better off with a couple year old civic.
if she wants something better that holds money and sells easily she should look to a as new as possible jeep wrangler jk in the 50-70k range, a swb landcruiser or a toyota fj cruiser. my colleague bought the latter 3 yrs ago for 82k and she could sell it for 70 having only spent £200 a year on servicing.
