Wondering if anyone has any experience of an estate agent who deals in the motor city area?

Keep getting horror stories from people at work about agents taking the fees and never seeing them again, plus put some of the advertised names in google and pages of problems come up.

Any advice would be of great help!

There are two ways to look at renting property in MC.
1) deal directly with the developer Union Properties OR deal with the Bank that has taken over some of the buildings Emirates NBD, OR
2) Deal with the "cowboys" as described above.

I rent directly through Emirates NBD but it was Union Properties when I first moved there. NBD/UP have retained a certain number of Buildings within the Development. From what I have seen they are perhaps a few AED1,000's more expensive than what you can find on the interweb, however, the difference comes if something goes wrong with anything in the apartment. With a Private Owner, you will have to get a quote, get quote approved and then get the work carried out. With the Buildings retained by NBD/UP you don't have any of this crap - you call them up, they come and fix it - no hassle.

The guy I deal with at NBD is Kaizad (+971 (0) 4 372 6901). The number for UP is 04 4361351 and just ask for an agent.

When we first looked to move to MC, I dealt with so many effing cowboy estate agents. They never showed up, told me flat was available only to be told later on it was not. The first comment was always "bring the deposit with you!" I eventually found out that I could rent through the developer, which is what I did.

Top advice that thank you very much!!

General impression of estate agents is extremely bad out here, how are they allowed to get away with it!

J,

if you want to pop over and have a look around, just give me a shout. Would be more than happy to show you around.

PS: a friend of ours rented a 880sq ft studio apartment (comes complete with cooker/fridge and washer/dryer; single underground car space & storage facility) for AED33,000 per year. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives out there, but really depends on what you are looking for.

I agree, especially here in Dubai, however after speaking to some very attractive ladies in the estate agent business, I would not like to do what they did to "make a sale'

the commission they get even on rentals is a pisstake. however fro a grand a go you think they'd be more bothered about turning up for viewings.

most people at work use homes4u for the simple fact they do turn up. no experience with any agents myself yet, though i am looking for a 2/3 bed villa so if you ahev a decent experience please share.
