so i hired a car on my uk licence as i didn't have the uae one on me at the time. seems the ford figo is truly a rapid beasty and the RTA would like to levy a fee according the the amount i was beaking their petty little speed limit rolleyeswink

national just called to ask me for a scan of my dubai licence. if i refuse, what will happen? i am guessing that given i used a dubai credit card and a dubai address i will likely end up in a small cell breaking rocks all day?

i think i was done twice on the same stretch just by business bay crossing. always though that was a 120 stretch and have been doing those at 140 after oily's advice. turns out it isn't.

It makes no odds you will have to pay the fine regardless.

The point system here is a joke - I am proudly leading the projects speeding board, with 6 tickets this year so far.

Pay the 600aed and forget about it

Thought as much. Hope its just the one fine, two in one km stretch is just cheeky.

IIRC it is illegal to have residency and drive on a foreign license.

And I never mentioned Busness Bay speed limits, only those coming in from AUH. Isn't Business Bay 100kph meaning you can do 120?

i know. i just made the mistake of thinking bus bay was a 120 zone as i've always driven it at 120. i now realise why i haven't been copped there before!

also think national have realised their error on my licence [though i never gave them my passport, just the scan of the picture page] and are sorting it so the illegality disappears.
