Don't have any Arabs in this company now so no idea.

What / when / how long is the rumour for Eid this time ?

I wouldn't bet against it being Friday and Satruday.

well i may be required to work normal hours through ramadan, but even if 2 days of eid fall at the weekend we get them moved to workdays, so potentially 5 days off.

hopefully i'll be on a job somewhere so i can use them as lieu days like last year.

My Muscat office will be closed all week, so it looks like I only get the 2 / 3 days off here. We were told Eid will start on 19th.

Thats what the wife has been given, but all the international law firms have apparently agreed amongst themselves.

It is the first and second of Shawwal for private sector.

Only problem is we don't yet know when Shawwal starts, will either be Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon

Lucky you - I'm only getting 3 days. Are you govt sector by any chance?

Two days off for us, four days for our Doha office and a whopping five days for the mugs in Saudi.

Still depends on when Shawwal starts.

Basically mate, if it is Ramadan on Sat, they get Sun and Mon off.

If Eid starts on Sat they are back in the office on Monday.

I expect there will be an announcement tomorrow afternoon.

ETA - the thing that works on our favour is if we lose a day so do the Public Sector as theirs is based on Shawwal dates as well. Here's hoping they want a long one smile

Excellent, so it's 2 days......either Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon.

Perfect. Many thanks.

Agree on this. I was chatting to a very attractive local Emirati lady in HSBC yesterday and she assured me Eid would be Sunday/Monday!
