Red Car in Dubai - Madness?
Discussion
Hi folks.
First post for me as hadn't spied this section before. Been in Dubai 2 and a half years now.
I'm currently looking for another car and had some bad experiences before back home in Scotland of cars with red paint fading to washed out pink, although this was on older cars (think 1990 RS turbo and the like). Anyone ran anything newer out here (say max 6 years old) in Red and had the same issues or has modern paint sorted this issue out? Or is getting a red car here just madness?!
Appreciate any thoughts!!
Cheers.

Yup first post in any section. Had used the website for years but paid no attention to the forum. Figured it looks a decent way to kill some time though!
As for the car it will need to sit out in the sun all day while I'm in the office so think I'll probably dodge something red although it seems like you guys haven't had too much bother if you can keep it in the shade while parked up.
Cheers.

I had a red 2006 A4 for almost 3 years (I sold it a month ago). I only had it detailed once, before selling it, and the paint was like new. I do however have covered parking but the previous owner didn't.
I now have a red 2008 Peugeot 206. Once again the color is perfect.
My sister on the other hand had a 1998 Honda Civic (dark maroon not red color) when she used to live in Abu Dhabi. She had bought the car new and it was always parked outside (Abu Dhabi after all). After 5 years or so the color on the roof had faded quite badly. She of course never waxed or had the car polished so maybe that is one of the reasons why the color had faded.

They sell red cars here??
there is a certain Italian brand, can't remember the name, flashy sports cars and the like, black horse badge on yellow background on the bonnet, apparantly most of the buyers choose red for them, see them everywhere in Dubai. You not seen them around?Edited by S1MMA on Tuesday 24th July 13:15
