I'll be travelling to Dubai in November and I'm interested in buying a Breitling Navitimer while I'm there because I understand there's a massive saving to be had over there.

Can anyone recommend a jewellers that I should check out, and also how much I'm looking at saving?
Read mixed reviews online... Some say up to 40-50%!

Cheers.

Don't know about Breitling, but in general watches in the Middle East are the same (if not more) than the UK.

Buy 'tax free' at Heathrow, that's likely to be cheapest.

I had heard the same, having lived here for a while and looked around a bit I'll now be buying my Tag in the USA as prices here are no different than the UK

Del, have a word with PHer Dominic H from Hackett Watches. He can normally source new or used watches at good prices, and can do the paperwork you need for the VAT back.

I'm sure it will work out the cheapest way, and he's a decent guy.

Cheapest way is to buy it Duty Free from Heathrow, but haggle on the price! They will negotiate. Dubai is expensive for watches (or the same price as RRP UK). Occassionally really good deals will come up in Dubai and you can pick up a bargain, but dont rely on it.

There is a Breitling showroom in Mirdif City Center Mall next door to P.F Changs.

I got an email back from a Breitling dealer in Dubai.

Navitimer 01 with leather strap (what I want) would be £4750.

How does that compare with the best price you've found in the UK?

I've been known to buy a few top end watches and only one has been bought here (and that was a present from my missus). It's usually cheaper elsewhere I'm afraid.

Have an ask in the Watch Forum and see what they recommend for buying in the UK - there's a lot of knowledge there.

Gratuitous shot of some of them - wife also has a couple of JLCs and an Omega.

^ nice.

At the other end of the spectrum I finally went to the G-shock place in Lamcy after work today.

Good selection, a suitable offensive massive white one on my wrist now. So much cheaper than in Japan, odd really, same thing with lenses.
