Is this enforced by the government? My co pretty much ignores Ramadan from what I can gather and it certainly seems like a work as usual day on Sunday from their point of view - given that I've pretty much a full day of meetings arranged..

When these things are ignored, who gets the bking? Me or the company?

Our company has given everyone Sunday off. I'll be working because of deadlines unfortunately!

^ ministry of labour I think.

Re ramadan hours, 100% illegal to make you work normal hours, it took me 3 years and article in gulf news for them to realise that.

The law is not religion specific, its a change in working hours for everyone.

My guys can go when they want after 4pm, their targets remain the same.

Good luck, its a fking struggle, companies hide behind the 'free zone' angle

We are in a free zone and I've been told that the rules don't apply if you are not muslim. The only saving grace from my perspective is that most of our clients are likely to be observing Ramadan, so we'll not be running 12 hour assessment centres that month and so targets likely to be a little less silly than usual..

See my previous response mate.

Its 100% illegal.

Fines are hefty as well should you get inspected.

I'll dig out the article for you when I'm sober enough to google smile

Cheers. Gaffer already sent me a link. As far as I'm concerned, if the company wants to flout the law and risk getting fined, it's up to them. If they require the employees to work and we are liable if caught, that's another matter..

Off on Sunday, working a max of 8-2 during Ramadan... under strict instructions that the office door will be closed at 2pm
