If you buy here you won't get Facetime if that is important to you?

Less important but thanks for the heads up - do they actually switch off the functionality or that it simply doesn't work with the Etisalat VOIP restrictions?

Not installed as I found out in December last year. The warranties are world wide so when ours locked up in January the wife took the unit to an Apple shop Delhi (she was there on holiday) and Apple replaced the unit. However iMacs come with FaceTime installed. iStyle couldn't explain why.

Cheapest is to wait until you're passing through the EU and reclaim the tax.

Haven't seen any good deals on apple kit in the emirates. I bought my mac mini from the UAE apple store online, with UK keyboard etc and delivered within 2 weeks. Istyle were quoting 4weeks for the spec I wanted and couldn't beat the apple price.

I paid in the region of 550,000 airmiles. I won a million a couple years ago.

Not Skywards miles, the proper crappy 'airmiles' www.airmilesme.com

Oh, I'll be in the market for a used AR Drone if anyone gets one and gets bored of it.....

I get to keep airmiles from my corporate credit card, so nice to know I can get some decent stuff free!

Drone looks good but expensive! I think something from dragonmart with a ducted fan would be a much better idea.

I have had ducted fans though- and hobbyking would likely be a better source than dragonmanrt.

I just wanted something other than my helicopter to fly off the balcony, and for jnr to have a go with when he visits next time, all under the heading 'it will be useful for work photos'

Still O/T smile

I have a microlight, Tigermoth, Red arrow, paraglider and F-15 that all need the dust shaking off them. Anyone fancy an early morning airshow?

To head back towards the topic, does anyone have the ipad/pod/AR Drone? Is it any good.

My flatmate has a ipad/motion controlled helicoptert which is miles better than the joystick ones we have.

Airshow sounds good, sand makes for less harsh landings too!

Back to the topic again..

I've an old MacBook Air brought over from the UK and about to die, so was wanting to replace it. As I can get a small discount on Apple stuff through work I was going to put up with the pain of an international keyboard, but don't want it throttled with inability to load and use Skype, facetime etc..

I could wait a few weeks until a friend is heading here from the UK, or could buy one cheaper here now.. Anyone know what the position is? I've a UK based apple account so whatever app store purchases I make are through that store if that makes a difference..

I bought my mac mini from the .ae apple store with english keyboard etc. It ships from ireland in less than a week, no issues whatsoever.

Back off topic, when is the PH airshow?

I'm seeing the store offering international keyboards, (i.e US) which will cheese me off when I can't find a £ sign later on..

Back off topic again, I'm ready for the airshow whenever you guys are. I really have got a paraglider here in my apartment and if we want to go the whole hog, (probably not a PC expression here) we could do a combined air and boat show as I seem to have accidentally bought a boat too.. biggrin

Ah.. Its actually offering International English or US.. Will take a punt on it as this one isn't going to last much longer..

Give me a month or two and i'll get back to you on sailing.. Water is a bit chilly at the moment..

Just be careful of some of the smaller resellers in the malls, Esp the ones with stands in the thoroughfares. A friend of mine bought what was meant be be a new iphone from one which turned out to be a faulty returned unit.
