I'm planning to freight the GT3 back to Blighty in a few days and discovered a dangerous looking bulge on one front tyre. Since all four tyres need to be replaced anyway, and I wasn't planning on paying silly Dubai prices for them, I was hoping to load up the car and do it at the other end.

Any ideas where I might find an end of life but essentially not dangerous single tyre in size 235/40/18? The car needs to make two journeys: one to DIP to get the mapping seen to, and the other to the container for loading. I'd rather not have a fatal blow out on the way.

I've thought about trawling the Al Quoz tyre shops for cast offs but the thought of wasting half a day explaining the same boring story fills me with dread. Any ideas?

Harris,

Have you tried John @ MSW or your old racing partner?

Yeah, I've tried to reach Jon but he's not in at MSW so I'll have to try that another time. Paul suggests blagging a cast off from the Race School. Didn't think of that - it's worth a try....

Done!

The Race School very kindly donated a nicely worn Bridgestone. Good enough to get me to the port.

Thanks Ian, ever helpful with useful suggestions smile
