Hi All,

So, there is an open track night where you can take your own car along this coming Saturday. Wanted to flag it up as its quite a good laugh. It starts at 17:30 and goes on for a few hours. Well worth the 500 Dizzas.

Anyways, I am planning to go and hope to see a few others there.
Cheers

AED600!

If you can wait until the 8 June, why not join us then (friday AM), if we get 15 cars or more, it will only cost AED300!

I did the bike track afternoon last Friday (we started at 5pm) and paid AED 500 and this was for the National Circuit.

We were pouring fluids into us from 2 hours before the track session, after each 20 minute stint and after the track day. In oterh words please stay hydrated.

Why the hell are Track events for bikes substantially cheaper than for cars? National circuit for cars are AED800!

The argument you only have two wheels on the track compared to our 4 does not stand water. The no. of Marshalls is the same, surely?

Booked. Hope to see some of you there on Satuarday from 5:30pm.
Will be there with the 73RS Replica and my mate is coming with his Caterham. No doubt there will be a shedload of Corvette's and Porkers there too.
Cheers. Luke

hi luke,

loved your car but disappointed i didn't get chance to have a closer inspection or talk to you. mine was the blue & white clubby that died on the second lap so i am sure you understand.

big thanks to 73-911 [sorry mate i forgot your name!] for a spin around the perimeter roads. your car is just lovely, tons of character and a pleasure to sit in if only for a short while. much want!

my summer trackdays are over. sam and i fitted one of spencer's fuel pumps and made the driver's briefing in the nick of time only to have the car lose power and come limping into the pits on lap 2. after chasing the hot start and fuelling issues it seems i now need a new coil pack and yet another fuel pump. i've decided to wait until the mighty bmw is on it's way to the 24h barcelona and borrow spencer's garage for a couple of months to get the car the way i want it. nev's red and white clubby is leagues ahead of mine in terms of fit and feel, so that's my marker to aim for.

Hi Mate,

Cheers for the message, sorry to hear your car died on you early on. Was the first time I took the 911 on the track and have to say she faired very well. Handled amazingly for an old car. Has the turbo suspension, however I think I may get me brakes upgraded at MSW. All was going fine until my brake fluid boiled and the brakes went a little soft, luckily it was on the cool down lap and not after the straight when I was going for it.

Might see you at the next meet mate. I plan to take the 73 RS again, maybe one more time before the end of the summer, if not then around Sept. If you want to join for a spin round the track then just gis a shout. Cheers
Luke

Luke - I'll hold you to those pax laps! James' car was the first aircooled 911 I've sat in so it'd be fantastic to be in one being driven in anger. Thanks for the offer.

I was in Nev's red & white clubman on the second session and was impressed at how your car handled when we were following, especially down the back section. Nice dab of oppo one time on T1 biggrin

My car is cheaply fixable. Annoying that the problems I found/fixed were just masking something else. Just needs some time and space to do it which won't be until August now. At least I know that it is secure at Dusty's, going to be one determined thief to get that trailer out! hehe

Aye, the back end was getting a little shall we say "loose" after a few hot laps. The rear tyres are also Yokohama's but not as soft as the front so they gave way a little when they were hot. Still...was more fun like that.

I did take out some a cone a lap with the back end 3 laps on the trot on turn 3. Handled well though. It has temped me to spend even more money on it now. DOH! I am thinking some struts, decent brakes and perhaps some dencent semi slick rubber. Looking forward to next one though. : )
