A lad from my office reckons he got flashed around 7 times in Oman last weekend, in a hire car.

Is he going to get stung? Are they organised enough for cross border billing yet?!

My gut feeling was that the fact it was a hire car will work against him as they will just charge his card.

Yes, they do post the fines up, however, it may take 6-9 months before they show. Normally AED100 per fine unless he was ttting it.

I got a speeding fine in Oman in my own car (I was actually in Bahrain on the date in question but it wasn't much and I reasoned that (a) I wasn't going to get anywhere challenging it and (b) that may have been they retrieved the film rather than the date of the offence itself and I had been there not long before. Had to pay at UAE Exchange in order to re-register the car.

Not sure about hire cars though
