Anyone heard of any cheap rental deals on at the moment before I sign up for the fastest car in the Middle East...the Hertz rental Yaris?!

how much are they charging? if it's hertz i guess 2100?

national did me a focus for 480 a week less FC insurance [which in hindsight i should've purchased!] so i'd guess 2000 is achievable. i'd take a slocus over any of the cheaper japanese offerings.

1800 through our corporate deal. 12 quid a day in proper money which is more than my cab too and from work costs!

I've decided to rent until I find the right 997 model 911 as until that happens I'll keep changing every six months and dealing with the car buying and selling mongs of Dubai has put me off that.

I did clear an AED9k profit on my last Lady Landy LR2 though after a year of ownership and about 15k kms. Not bad that!

Great description. I'm dreading selling both my SUVs this summer for this very reason.

1800 is with basic insurance, it's 2070 with full CDW etc. unless your corporate rate is better than ours! the tiida is the pick of the runts, the yaris is pure wk and the honda city can't take more than a gentle bend without understeering or the tyres squealing blue murder.

Agree Tiida is the best of the Jap boxes.

Although my City coped admirably with going straight over the top of the first roundabout as you enter the Meadows at 120 kmh.

The drunk on the back seat asked me to slow down for speed bumps smile

If you put code "SSP" into Dollar website I think it gets something like 30% off? I'm about to rent some taxi like Accord/Altima for 1073 per week plus 350 insurance.

I'm now the proud punter of one 2012 Corolla 1.6. Less than two biffs a month including CDW (Completely Damaged (by) wkers?!) cover. Leccy windows all round tells me that this is an Executive model.

The glue fumes are killing me but less so than the foul brew of taxi driver farts and armpit fug I've been putting up with. It got so bad I've been tipping cabbie extra if they keep their taxis fresh!

did you go through with this? you can rent a proper car for that money, or buy something much nicer on finance.

i nearly bought a taxi driver an air freshener when i stopped for cash t'other night, but thought that would have been too cheeky.

There really is no point in spending anything more than 2k a month on a rental - at the end of the day, you're pissing the money away so you might as well keep it as cost effective as possible. The thought of spending over 4k a month to have the delights of a Nissan Altima doesn't bear thinking about.

After 3 months with the Yaris, I'd had enough and bought el Wrongler which so far has proven to be the perfect motor to hack around in. Over the 19k I paid Dusty for car, all its cost me is registration, insurance and a tank of petrol every week.

All being well, I'll sell it for near enough what I paid in a couple of months once I can get finance sorted out on the Audi I've got a deposit down on.
