Gents,

I've recently put a deposit down with Ali & Sons on an Audi A1 185bhp, but a change in circumstances means that I can't get my finance sorted out for a couple of months.

I'm currently rolling around in a rented Yaris (2012MY no less), however I had a thought of getting something different to hack around in for a few months that I can sell on one all is sorted with the bank.

I've got around 15k ready cash that I can spend, and ideally would want to be able to shift on whatever it is I buy pretty easily.

Only requirements is that it's reliable enough to run around from Marina to Media City with the occasional run to Abu Dhabi and back.

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks

Stretch 4k and you can have my lovely wrangler which is now surplus to requirements.

Its got a few scratches n it, but its clean inside, and has never let me down- used to drive to al ain in it daily. Just had new air con too. And it goes anywhere (although shirt has yet to suggest going out in the sand in case his gets dirty!)

Any details dusty? - Wronglers away seem to hold their money well.

I know the most sensible idea would be to stay in the rental Yaris, but since when did being a PHer mean being sensible?

Well if being a PHer means not being sensible, we have a nice 1968 4.2 E-Type Jaguar for sale wink

Or why not ask K50 Del how much he is selling the Durango for if it's just a daily hack.

i have driven dusty's wrangler and it is in very good mechanical nick with most history present. i'm driving mine as a daily and have put 3,000km on it in the past 2 months. lots of fun, millions better than a yaris!

true that i haven't been in the desert yet, hoping to fix that asap now i know a few more a work who go out camping regularly.

Okay - Wrangler seems to be the way to go (although I did promise myself I'd never buy one).

Have dropped a line to Dusty, but if anyone else knows of one available lemme know.

Anyone had any overheating issues with Wranglers? I've seen quite a few Cherokees out in the desert overheating (although never a Wrangler, so this may be Cherokee only issue although I assume is the same engine)

Wrangler is an I6 I think, the one pictured above did run hot when giving it the beans in the summer but never excessively so.

You do have to rev the nuts off it with such big tires attached dropped to about 10 psi to make progress but it just adds to the fun smile

Used to have a red YJ model (the YJ models Jeeps have more torque and no driving aids) and it was a blast to drive through the desert.

Blew clutch slave cyclinder at mega bowl, still drove the car out of the desert and all the way home (only had to stop once!).
