20% OFF Motorsport Race License Course - have always wanted to do this http://bit.ly/wkbnGr 20%. What do you think? Is it a good deal?

can't comment on the cost, but the licence only has value if you plan to do anything with it.
if you are serious, i can put you in touch with an FIA instructor here in dubai.
Don't plan to race professionally with it, but always admired the way advanced drivers have total control of their cars. Hence, why I was wondering if this was a good deal? Maybe doing it directly with an FIA instructor it might work out better and cheaper?if you are serious, i can put you in touch with an FIA instructor here in dubai.
Doing a course to get you a race licence is not going to make you an advanced driver or teach you total control. It will only teach you the basics to ensure you can put in a consistent and safe lap, and that you understand protocol.
Get one-to-one tuition through either the Dubai Autodrome Race School or Yas Marina Race School. Or talk to the instructors directly at a public track day (usu. there's one or two around).
There's no substitute for seat time. The more you practice, and the more you get focused individual instruction, the faster your skills will progress. I assume you already do karting and track days? Both are essential first steps.

It was AED1500 to do the test when I enquired the other day.
Getting the test is something to I plan to do this year.
Now I don't do karting or trackdays here, but have done both back in the UK and have quite a bit of experience in fast road cars, so no idea where that puts me with regards to getting a national race license here.

You can't get an International C (the lowest grade of Intnl) without 10 signatures on your licence (ie 10 National races). So the licence will be National only.
Unless you are intending to compete in the National Race Days, there is no sense in spending good money on getting the licence. If car control is the objective, karting and autocross are the best starting points.
A lot of people progress from there to the touring car championships. My personal view is going from public track days to the TCC could turn out to be very frustrating as there are some excellent drivers and well prepared race cars in that championship.

For the money they're asking for the full course, I'd much rather spend it on some flights to Europe and a couple of days tuition in advanced road driving that tool around in a Suzuki Swift race car just to get a license to put in my wallet. As the others have said, training you in getting the race licence covers subjects like racing line, flags, procedures etc - not really hugely useful on the road.
Before I came out to the UAE I spent a very fruitful day with an ex-Porsche and police instructor involving an M3, some nice roads around Goodwood and a few hours on the Chobham test facility. Taught me an awful lot about how to get the most out of a car on the road and corrected a few areas of my driving technique.
There are much better ways to spend 7200Dhs...
