Hi guys

I found out at the weekend that my building access cards have been disabled by Emaar following my landlord's failure to pay the service charge.

Has anyone got experience of this kind of situation?

It's made slightly more difficult by the fact that she lives in India and can only be reached by email. It may just be an oversight on her part but I'm fearing the worst i.e. she's skint, never pays it and I don't get my deposit back.

I only emailed her this morning so I'm not too worried about it yet... just want to be prepared.

Hmmm, I'd suggest it's only an oversight. She'd have fartoo much to lose simply by not paying the service charge.

That said, if I were you I'd start ripping out the kitchen's & Bathrooms etc, and flooding Dubizzle with them......just to be on the safe side!

Hope it sorts itself out without too much trouble.

There was something the other week in 7days about landlords not paying for Palm residence .
Upshot IIRC was, no payment - no access frown

Hope you aren't in the same boat.

Well, the landlord has just emailed me to say that she didn't know there was a payment outstanding and she'll get it sorted ASAP.

Not fully convinced though... We'll see what happens.

that's different claire, in that nakheel are trying to restrospectively charge residents for beach access - which the courts have indicated is illegal.

i'd read your tenancy agreement and contact the agent. granted, neither may be much use!
