Short term lets/serviced apartment

Thought I'd pick everyone's collective experience before heading to dubizzle/propertyfinder.ae - any suggestions for a pad for the next couple of months while I do a bit more focussed flat hunting? Place I'm in at the moment is good for a couple of weeks, (Seven Sands Al Barsha) but has decided a 1/3 price hike to 10K pmth is the new rate so I'm going to look elsewhere. If I can get to the Metro I can get into the office and back easily enough..

have your PRO call the grand millenium in tecom. all new expats for my company start with 3mths here. i think the rate is $2k a mth, so roughly AED8k.

the 1 bedders are huge, about 1000sqft, and the belgian beer cafe is downstairs.

actually, if you do fancy a drink sometime soon, we'll meet there. not had a leffe in ages.

I take it you have no car at the mo? Shame cos somebody on PH used to have a serviced apartment in Sports City which costs a few sheckles a month (if memory serves)

Shirt - Cheers, will follow that up.. Best price online is a lot more than that, but thats only for 30 days. My PRO seems to be part time, (at least has a very flexible attitude to time) so I'll do some digging myself I think.. Leffe sometime sounds good - let me know when..

Gaffer - Any joy with importing cars? I'm a few minutes walk from Sharaf DG and might have gone by next weekend, but certainly around all week..

Yorky - short answer is no car right now. Paperwork is being generated/ignored at the moment, (suspect I know which..)

If those recommendations don't work out for you, I've just arrived too and am being put up in the serviced apartments at the Al Murooj Rotana. Handy location for Dubai Mall etc and good hotel facilities etc.

Would be great to meet some fellow PH-ers here in Dubai too, so if anyone fancies a beer sometime let me know!
