Noticed a distinct lack of hills/mountains when I was over on recon last month, but currently looking at my paraglider and wondering if it's worth going in the container..

If the prevailing wind is onshore and there is about a 200 foot sand dune in the right place, I reckon I'd be able to get in the air..nquick google lead to a few broken links so not sure its done out there..

it's a paraglider man, get it bloody packed!

there are mountains in hatta/fujairah and obviously dunes such as big red. i would bring it, then check the local laws re: flying the thing. not sure how the authorities would take to it, given they like to go ott re: control of the unknown.

that said, you're a £100 flight away from india, Pakistan, the himalayas, north africa etc. where i think things may be more relaxed.

Done.. Going to need a 4X4 - the site that was dead is now live and it looks like a couple of the flying sites aren't easily accessed by anything less. biggrin

Where the hell did you hear that?

I have crashed at least 5 aircraft and I'm too scared to fly the remaining 4 for fear that they will go the same way.

Paragliding sounds fun though, where do I sign up?

There is a club who do the basics, (ground handling) on the beach I think around JBR. Waiting on an email back to give me more details..

If there is a stretch of preferably grass that's a good size and open to the public, I can show you the basics. I need to get the wing out and give it a thorough check before I fly it, (assuming my shipment arrives ok and customs don't take a dislike to it..)

Noticed a couple around MOE this afternoon - perhaps just the local equivalent of the Chelsea set?

Right, I'm here. All seems ok so far.

Cheers biggrin

Seven Sands not far from MOE for a couple of weeks initially. Know more tomorrow once I've shown my face in the office..

Happy with the idea of a villa/flat share - chat over a cold beer sometime?
