It is that time of the year when the Dubai Autodrome hosts the annual 24hr event. I will be there for the 3rd year running, this time Team Managing SVDP Racings entry. This year we are up against 2L petrol or 1.6L turbo petrol cars in our BMW 120d.

We are being assisted by Shirt and rabailey......

Entry is free but you can apply for a free pass (Dubai strikes again hey) from here:

http://www.dubaiautodrome.com/invitation-2012-dunl...

Qualifying in on 12th Jan with the race starting at 2pm on the 13th. Everybody is more than welcome to come round and say hello, we should be in garage 10A.

Will def come and say hi and cheer you along.

I'm an ex-Army trained mechanic if you need a spanner jockey. Just show me where the points are and give me a broom handle, I'll have her purring like a cat...

We are testing at the autodrome tomorrow morning. If you hear a car going round the circuit..... it is not ours as it is a bit quiet.

Good luck to you and the boys, Ian. That beemer looks like it's gonna kick arse this year. I'll be doing a stint in the medical car so I'll pop round and say hello if I get a chance.

we'll be there en masse..... I hear though that pit access is impossible, so coming to say hello might be an issue!

Not sure, one of my pals who went last year said that they couldn't access the pits then either.... I guess we'll see next weekend!

Do you have yellow brake calipers?

Looks like our fuel pump is not delivering fuel at a high enough pressure. Not sure we will find one in Dubai.

Access to the pits is free according to the flyers. Might be best to go to the autodrome website and request tickets.

What we really need is a 120d Series 1 High Pressure fuel pump. If anybody is free all day Wednesday and Thursday Icould do with a pairs of hands, subject to getting the fuel pump.

French cheese, we are not giving up that easily....

Looks like we have found 2 fuel pumps, one should be here tomorrow and the other the day after. Fingers crossed one of them works....

Hi - Dubai PH'ers

I am just packing my bags and flying in on Tuesday morning from Heathrow. I am in the 'other' 120D, having joined Cor Euser and his Marcos International team.

So we'll have a blast racing in the class with the Clios and Minis -- perhaps if we hunt them down as a pack we'll be more successful! Finishing and a class podium will be a real high if we can both pull that one off ..............

I have got rooms at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club ......... never been to Dubai before, so what tips would you give me if we want to try and do a couple of things away from the circuit? Someone told me dinner on a boat in the creek is a good evening ....... where would you go for a one stop shopping trip? ... and to get a flavour of the old town.

Finally, I've booked a hire car, will I be able to get around OK with my SatNav ?

NB Here in the UK Motors TV have just put up the live TV schedule for Thurs & Friday -- guess the Saturday one will follow soon see: http://www.motorstv.com/sites/default/files/conten...

you're not short of dining options here, i'm told the creek cruise thing is overpriced and not that good. if you want to 'do' the creek, park up on the south bank near ruler's court. walk through bastakiya [the oldest bit of dubai] and past the grand mosque to the abra pier. an abra [boat] is 1dirham to cross over to the other side. walk around the souks, then head back. end the afternoon with a curry at ravis in nearby satwa.

are you going to be at the track on wednesday? if so, pop by and say hi. we promise not to steal any of your spare parts biggrin
